Am I a ricer?
« on: June 25, 2004, 09:12:20 AM »
I'm having a new exhaust put on my bike.

It will increase performance by 25% because the manufacturer limits the backpressure in the stock exhausts, but I am getting it put on because of the sweet gutteral sound the new exhaust will provide.

Does this mean I am a ricer?

no... but you are an outlaw and an anarcist..  Your tiny island put restrictions on engine size for a reason.. they were protecting you and your fellows from dangerous horsepower on the roads you have.   You have shown blatent disregard for your government and for your comrades by your action.

:(

sniff...I wanted to be a ricer.

Interesting analysis though lazs, but somewhat incorrect.  It was the bike manufacturer who had the limitation on the backpressure...it isn't Govt. regs in this case.

But, you are right in that they limited engine size etc.

Instead of looking at me as an anarcist, think of me as a cowboy.

You're not a ricer unless you add the glue-on supercharger intake and carry a boom box blasting out turbine sounds.

Does the exhaust resemble a coffe can with a 4" hole in the back? :)

[edit: Cowboy and pirate might be a bit too strong, how about maverick or renegade?]

in most places... the manufacturer puts on smog, noise, and filtration devices meant to comply with local regulations.   Only an anarchist, cowboy, pirate would be so thoughtless of his comrades and government.

not to mention... small engines with increased noise (less backpressure) are very annoying to everyone not riding the scooter.

When I was a kid my moped did run 90kmh with 50cc modified cyl, modified piston, dropped cyl-head, 5-speed trans and modified carb.
Cop who measured the speed with another one in 1000cc BMW said the fuel-mix wasn't at its best so engine did run a bit rough at higher rpm. Carb had a adjustable mainjet the cop didn't know how to use...
Friend had a Suzuki moped with 80cc motocross engine; topspeed 120kmh.
Another one had a old Honda Monkey with 125cc Honda Twin; he had to tilt engine forward so it could fit between frame and ground. It was quite fast too :D
Third one was mounting an engine from old Ancillotti endurobike to his trial moped when his dad said "Son, guess we should buy you a motorbike..."

Oh well, party time...

I always thought that a Ricer was someone who made cosmetic changes to the vehical to make it "looks" like it goes faster, but does nothing to improve horsepower.

Mine is a Honda 125 Staga, not a twin tho.

Lazs...you must have California on the mind with respect to all those freedom depriving regulations.

This bike was imported from Japan (Honda) with no special compliance requirements for this island.

ooooohhhhh...it is sweet.

I turned it over for a guy at work.  He wasn't expecting it to be quite so loud and jumped.  I figure that is a good sign.  :aok

First horsepower. Then alcohol. Be careful out there!

You can only be considered a ricer if you put a big ol' wing on your seat and use a neon safety lock.
