Just got back from Emergency Room.
« on: June 29, 2004, 11:00:24 PM »
What a night... was sitting here about 4 1/2 hours ago posting in the O Club when my 15 year old Daught rushes in the room and sez "Dad the TV just fell on Jake!!!"  my 5 year old Son.
Now bear in mind this isn't a small TV. It's huge and heavy, takes 3 - 4 people to lift it past knee high. Well the stand that it was on had wheels, glass front, 2 shelves and just a lil at knee level.  I've scolded my Son many times about laying in front of it an putting his feet on the stand... Well it happened, it fell on him.
The corner of the TV caught his forehead and tacked him down to the carpet. My wife and Daughter was in the kitchen and rushed into the Living Room to get the TV off him. Called 911, seemed forever for the ambulance to get here and he was loosing blood, alot of it. Finally, they arrived and we stablized him and then off to ER. 12 miles away.  He's a Trooper, took 12 stitches outside and 8 on the inside. But we're home now and I still have a Son. It could have been far worse.  Kids make Parents age before our time!!!!

Thank you Sandman.

I'm still shaking and sweating. Wife and I are doing shifts tonight. We have to wake him up every 2 hours to see if he is okay.

I'd gladly give up the sleeptime knowing he's okay, instaed of the worse senario...:(

Thank God for good ER Doctors and Nurses :aok

I know the feeling. When my son was two he ran through a glass door. Since then, we've lost count of the trips to the ER. He's sixteen now.

Now, I don't even break a sweat... a quick triage and we're in the car. :)

Thats amazing. Good thing he survived. May I ask how does a giant TV fall onto a small child?

That's fluffied up.

Glad to hear the boy's alright. Though. I hope he remembers this incident well, both for the lesson and for the stories.

On a less serious note, this could make a pretty decent commercial for Plasma Screen TVs.

montag the stand that the TV was on had wheels... wheels + shag carpet spells disaster when a lil Boy sits infront of it rocking it with his feet.

Have used TV stand for sale....  Maybe EBay.

Mac glad to hear your son is ok.

My kids (2 and 5) fall and get hurt all the time and it drives me nuts when they hang upside down from the swing set and such.....hope I never have to go through that.

Glad to hear he is ok AWMac. Kids will add gray to your hair for sure. When the grandkids come along you'll finally feel it was all worth it. ;)

AKIron thanx.

Same number 1 Son, two years ago on Fathers Day decided to ride his tricycle into the pool.  I was working on the pool pump and got disgusted. I decided to smoke a cig at the far edge of the pool.  2 puffs into the cig I hear "Splash" No tricycle, No Jake...  I dove into the shallow end only to first find the tricycle... then my Son... seemed like forever but it all happened in seconds. Got him outta the pool and he exploded like a water balloon.  Once he started crying I knew he was gonna be okay.

I aged 10 years that day too....

Who manufactured the TV stand? Are they still in business? Do they have assets? Who manufactured the TV? Was its weight at the base or was it top heavy and, thus, subject to tipping over? Were the TV and the stand part of a set? That would be great if they were cause then we can prove manufacturing defect.

I'm glad you posted before you had a chance to talk to anybody else. I'll need the ER report, the make and model of the TV, the type of stand it was on, and, most important of all, what program your son was watching.

You have hit the Lotto, fella... and I am your ticket.

Now scratch me.

Airhead,

He was watching the Cartoon Channel... Ed, Edd and Eddy.  For some reason I believe from your last post that you may fit in with my Son's programming. :rofl
