Just had a quick question for our norther neighbors.  Bowling for Columbine was just on TV as I was flipping channels.  It was at the point were Moore was asking people if they lock the doors on their house.

Is this true.  Do Canadians really not lock their doors?

Most people I know don't during the day and do at night.  Just like everywhere else I'm sure.

Like anywhere, it depends where you are I guess. In Vancouver? No way.  Here in Calgary it's pretty much unneccessary but I still do it out of habit. I'm sure there are areas in the states where folks don't lock their doors.

My theory is that 20-30 years ago most people weren't very hung up on locking their doors. When property crime started to hit it was a wake-up call of sorts and the doors became locked. In areas not really affected by property crime, the doors remain as they were 20-30 years ago.

My buds in central Kansas never lock their doors and leave their keys in the ignition.

I'm about 50/50 on locking doors where I live. Of course, the dogs are probably better than locks.

It just depends on what's going on in your neighborhood.

KEWL thanks for the INFO.

I live on a military installation and my doors stay unlocked during the day but deadbolted at night.  

I've even left my jeep keys in the ignition several times by accident but thankfully it was there in the morning.

I dont want to get in an argument here but in the show he lets it seem that Canada is the safest place in the world that you dont even need to lock your doors.  

I realize crime there is probably alot lower but figured its just like the suberbs or rural communities here.

we got more territory but less people.....

also its pretty much common knowledge that you do have more guns then us per person....

my brother lives in vancouver and it is a cesspool.  I can't imagine not having a gun in the house there for the zombies.

I live in GA, I dont lock my doors or take the keys out of my truck.
My wife comes behind me and locks the doors around midnight,
saying someone might come in and get my lil girl. I have a great
dane in the yard tied to a concrete block. she CAN tow that block wherever she wants to go, if she wants to. I also have a small ratdog who guards the inside of the hootch  ;->

Its pretty safe around here.

Leaving doors unlocked is IMO retarded, unless you have other safety mechanics, like your granpha sitting at the porch with his shotgun.

It could be also because your doorlocks are from 2000bc and require attention to get them locked.

why is vancouver a cesspool?  it has a "racialy diverse" population that doesn't even speak english so being all white like most of canada can't be the problem... It has very strict handgun laws so that can't be the problem and... drugs are readily available and cheap so that can't be the problem... It is, like all big cities... liberal socialist so that can't be the problem..

People who live in big cities should not be allowed to vote on anything that affects people who don't.
