Friend had a Plymouth Fury III with 440 Super Commando; Painted all shiny black, including grill and bumbers, and plenty of Mopar power. Nice car.

Bit backward innit?? Aussie cars have been 'based' on American designs ever since the end of WWII pretty much.
The Monaro Coupe  is just a two door version of the Holden Comodore, which is basically an Aussie adaption of a Buick design.

Even back when we did have real muscle cars, they were adaptions of American designs, the king of them all, the Falcon GTHO Phase III was pretty much a four door version of the Mustang when it came right down to it.
The original Monaros had a hell of a lot in common with contempory Chevys too.

Ok steve... the new vettes look good.  They don't look like every other car including a camaro or firebird.   They look just like  old muscle cars and you get to pick the color if you are lucky.

Driving the lincoln yesterday to pick up my grand daughter made me realize how invisible most of us are on the road.

People will wave at me and I have no Idea who they are.   When they complain later that they waved I will say, "what were u in?"  they say "the siver honda" or toyota or whatever..  I was in a 69 SS el camino or 55 Healey.   How would I see em?   I don't know a honda from a nissan.

I have noticed that new cars are starting to go out on a limb styling wise just to be a little different.. just to stand out even a bit from the melted look.

On sleepers.. One of my favorite cars was my high school car.  A 57 chevy bussines coupe 2 door post with steelies and a 394 olds motor with tripower... All junkyard stuff but that car would run in the low 14's or even high 13's once .

Some members of our leisure-club used to build some crazy cars; Some were old Toyota Corollas stripped from all extra weight and powered by 1,5 and 1,6 liter engines with kick-butt turbochargers.
Engines lasted maybe 100km before they blew to pieces due the enormous boosts guys were using but 'till then cars did run pretty fast.
First and second gear were useless, with 3:rd gear the car begun to accelerate when RPMs reached 3k and at 4k people begun to be scared :D
Their motto was "Ahdin määrää Tahdin"; kinda hard to translate but basically it says "Tempo (or rhythm) forced/dictated by Supercharger.

Lazs, reel it in dude.  I am with you on old American Muscle.  I love the old stuff... I even wanted an elky to tweak but my wife really had a fit about it so I decided it wasn't a battle worth winning.  I'm partial to the old camaros .. olds 442's.
A friend of mine had an old AMX that I really dug.
I was merely commenting that the c6's looked good, relative to your comment about how thre were no newgood looking cars(or something like that).  I'm NOT saying the new c6 is better than old muscle.
