It goes without saying that you need to get a new insurance agent.   So:  you need to get a new insurance agent.

Today I called my agent to cancel a homeowner's policy and an auto policy.  Total wait time:  2 rings.

They should expedite your call when you are reporting an accident.  The fact that they make you wait is IMHO a sign of utter ineptitude.

BTW, my insurance is with State Farm.  Had em for over 15 years for home, auto, motorcycle, and business insurance.  Never had a problem, never had to wait for service, ever.

Try AIG, their rates were lower than Progressive for us and their service was unbelieveable,  The recent accident my wife had....the body shop called us 45 min after the accident to book us in for the following day.  Direct insurance, no need to pay a middle man (like with Allstate or Farmers) unless you really FEEL you need that christmas card from them every year.

that sounds so frustrating...

all I can think to do is remind you that it will be behind you soon enough and in the meanwhile offer you a distraction: (hope it helps)

Does their website allow you to file a claim?  Otherwise, I would contact your agent to complain and ask them to file the claim (if they balk let them know you will be canceling once the claim is settled).

there is no "agent" i signed up over the 1 800 number. online i can't log in because i dont have a password, they are mailing me one (snail mail is the only option).

like i said it is the fng point now, im going to have them answer take my information, then see what they are going to do about this. if they offer nothgin i will procede with my better business beauru claim to get my payment for this current period refunded. i will also procede with my claim for the phone charges. (i have submitted this all to the BBB about 1 minutes ago)

i have also contacted the local news action/help line and will not hesitate to go on television and get people to drop them.

anything i can do to put this company out of business i will do.

i don't understand, if you were hit should not other persons ins be handling this?
anyway, if you were rear ended you should get a trial lawyer because you probubly have whiplash, and that means "pain and suffering" and that means big money.

I'm with AAA of SoCal. I got rear-ended last year. I was in the shop that afternoon getting an estimate and the insurance company was all over it. Practically painless.

They called the police and got the report. They called the shop. I was almost completely uninvolved.

was hit at less than 10 mph, nothing major, but did displace my bumper about an inch lower, alond with popping a taillight.

no injuries reported at the scene, also the "offender" being a person who can influence the contract i work under, no need to "inflate" the issue. im not hurt, she's not hurt

yes her insurance "should" be paying all the bills... but it is the principle of it. i have to report it to my insurance company in a timely mannor. i tried, the fluffied me.

progressive commercials always show that "van" than comes to the scene to help you out, and take the report, then drive you home and have your wrecked car towed.

pretend i was new to a town, didn't know a soul and my car was wrecked. i signed up with them because of the customer service the claim i am paying for. the agent comming to the scene, the whole deal.

is that really possible with a 3+ hour wait on the phone?!?!??! not even close, what if it had been winter -10 deg? i'd be dead from hypothermia.

yeah yeah why didnt i hang up and call back??

i did. 45 minutes on the nose for the first call. gave up and re-dialed. 10 minutes later the phone battery died. got the charger hooked up and the next call was 2 hours and 30 some minutes on hold. we all know that hanging up then re-dialing puts you further down the line in the "waiting" queue. after an hour on hole it got personal. the whole principle of it got me so agitated i was almost shaking.

oh well enough tping for tonight LOL

Hopefully for you progressive isn't handling the claim, that is unless you like the looks of a taiwanese tong yang bumper cover, and whatever else they can get away with figuring on your car. :) I deal with them all the time. You can't go wrong with state farm these days.

As a State Farm customer, that's good to hear.  I had to make two claims on my dad's homeowners insurance with them when dealing with his estate, and they were fantastic to deal with.  So, when my progressive policy expired I switched to them.

let me guess.  it didn't take them long at all to answer the phone when you called to open the policy and give them money.

it might be worth your time to call the # you sign up with (instead of the claims line).  when they answer ask immediately to speak to a supervisor, don't tell the person who answers what it's about until you have a supervisor on the phone.

by the time you start talking to them about the state insurance commission and fraud charges they are likely to be helpful in finding a claims person to talk to you.

if it doesn't work at least you'll get a live person to vent on.
