Well, believe it or not, I've only been up 3 times in the new version, but I think I've found a second ride. Some guys like to jump around in different aircraft during the tours, but I prefer to stick with one aircraft and fly it as well as I can. Up until this version that, of course, has been the DweebNik.
Welp, you can't fly the Niki from a carrier, and since for the most part I've only been flying wherever the carrier is, I've been flying the Hellcat...also a TnB plane, and it's American - so it's obviously got a built-in advantage (over any LuftWaffle aircraft that is...HT doesn't like those ya know)
. Apart from it's ability to turn & hold E beautifully, and take a pounding like the Niki never could, I'm finding myself loving the .50 cals. With cannons, you get in firing position, let a good burst go, and expect something to fall off...if it doesn't, then you repeat, but it usually does if you're on target. With .50s on the other hand, you line up the target, hold that trigger down, and watch the hit sprites fly. While it may be a little more difficult to deal a fatal wound with them, it's much more exciting with all the hits and the higher ROF...and I'm sure it makes a hell of a racket on the enemy's end!
So, now you'll see me in the skies in 2 different rides. I'll still take the trusty 'ole Niki up. It's a TnB dream, and the super dweeby folklore that follows it everywhere makes it extra appealing to me for some sick reason. Now, like I've said, I've been flying the F6F pretty much exclusively since 1.05 and I'm not noticing anything different in my number of kills or style of flying...which leads me to the only logical conclusion. HTC has seriously screwed something up with the Hellcat, because it flies to well and is as big a dweeb ride as the Niki. I'm not sure why yet, but I'm sure with the help of a few individuals we'll all know soon enough!
Salute again, HTC, I'm having as much fun as ever! With the latest version, I haven't noticed any real frame-rate hit with my setup, and the new plane art is simply stunning. ra-ra-ra!
