How about some questions without reverting to flames, personal insults etc that seem to proliferate the BB.

1) Fed up with the current map?
2) Would like bigger maps back?
3) You consider AH2 at best a Release Canditate (RC) version.
4) Or at worst a Beta
5) How long till major bugs e.g. CTD's fixed (I know it's always my systems fault)?
6) Was AH2 rushed out?
7) Will Tour of Duty be rushed out?
8) If so will Tour of Duty suffer from the same problems?

1) Fed up with the current map?

No, I can't play enough to get tired of *any* map

2) Would like bigger maps back?
See #1

3) You consider AH2 at best a Release Canditate (RC) version.
I consider AH2.0 a RC

4) Or at worst a Beta
I consider AH2.5 beta. It would be hard to argue its anything else considering a  major component was completely redesigned in that patch.

5) How long till major bugs e.g. CTD's fixed (I know it's always my systems fault)?
Guess thats directed to HTC

6) Was AH2 rushed out?
Seems so. I mean they forgot to test the texture handling that was going to be used in the game.

7) Will Tour of Duty be rushed out?
Hope not.

8) If so will Tour of Duty suffer from the same problems
If its rushed it will.

First off,  the "maps" aren't the issue that's the easy part.
This is what happens when you take a game, use directX9 to throw it together, it spits out a game.
Now before everyone & their brother jumps on me and starts in on the whole "hey buddy if your so great, go program your own game" or "if you don't like it, don't let the door hit ya" type of remark, let me point a few things out.

First off, I do not want to see this game and it's community go away, die off like WB's or go broke due to lack of interest.

Secondly, I, like so many here not only love the "idea" of this game, but it's people and what it provides. If people were into "Sim flying"  they'd be playing IL2 or Lomac not AH.

Third, The reason people get sooooo angry about "this game" is not entirely "the game"  it's the slap in the face received from the people who developed it and it's community. I know a lot of the guys that have stood up and stated some facts {notice I said FACTS} I did not say OPINIONS, don't confuse the two. They were quickly beaten down, flamed on and told to {you know what} by the "HTC is awesome, they can do no wrong" crowd of loyal followers.
This is where it starts to break down, the BBS is chock full of evidence that the people are not happy, the game doesn't work, and will not until it is done correctly. Period!
Thats how games/game engines work. People have spent hundreds, even over a thousand dollars preparing thier systems to play a game that can be created in Dx6 or 7,  only to have it run like garbage. "I spent this $$$ to get this?"

My recommendation, lets quit trying to fool each other, make excuses, point fingers or beat each other over the head to make our points.
There is no magic "right answer"  we the AH community are the clients/customers. We are who signs HTC's paychecks, without "the community" HTC is just another neat idea.

I wan't this to be the biggest and best WWII online combat sim there is, with all the features we have come to enjoy and don't mind paying for.

Maybe HTC can lease a good game engine?  Hire more experienced programmers? Let the community get more involved with production ?  Who knows, but I have a feeling in its current state this will continue to decline.

1.) no, fed up with 6v1 or 1v6 all the time but don;t care about the map.
2.) sure, just not Trinity, cannot take the 25K mountains.
3.) no
4.) no
5.) haven't had a CTD in weeks
6..) not at all, what was delayed was seeing 350+ players in AH2 since AH1 was left up too long.
7.) hope not, but I'll play TOD beta.
8.) N/A

Problem I see is that in the current stage AH2 offers very little over AH1. On the other hand, it offers a good bunch of bugs, compatibility/performance problems and a very limited set of obsolete maps. If launched with many more features, current problems would have weighted less in the overal balance. Surely it will improve with time, but most people I know are rating AH2 as it is actually, not as it will be in the future.

1) Fed up with the current map?

No, I like Air to Air combat. On small maps resets are easy enough that players can change them often enough via resets to prevent burnout. AW had the same map for years and years, AH community has map Attention Deficit Disorder from being so spoiled.

2) Would like bigger maps back?

No, I like Air to Air combat. Pizza map especially needs to be used as a cat litter box liner.

3) You consider AH2 at best a Release Canditate (RC) version.

AH2, works fine for me, all CTD's and stutters, were problems on my end not with AH2

4) Or at worst a Beta

Any game of this type is going to be a work in progress forever, it's incredibly complex, dynamic and forever evolving

5) How long till major bugs e.g. CTD's fixed (I know it's always my systems fault)?

As long as it takes, if you've ever done any programming you'd be very sympathetic to the plight afflicting those involved in the debugging process, alot is trial and error

6) Was AH2 rushed out?

It was delayed a year to make sure it was as ready as possible, so no

7) Will Tour of Duty be rushed out?

Judging by the previous question I would bet not

8) If so will Tour of Duty suffer from the same problems?

Any game this complex running on an almost infinite number of platforms will have some problems, to think otherwise is naive

1) Fed up with the current map?
Yes

2) Would like bigger maps back?
YES

3) You consider AH2 at best a Release Canditate (RC) version.
An evolving project

4) Or at worst a Beta
B]AH2 is better then some companies final release product[/B]

5) How long till major bugs e.g. CTD's fixed (I know it's always my systems fault)?
There are no major bugs, a major bug would be a bug that caused loss of human life or loss of finances
