Perk system does jack ****.  People don't switch sides to try to collect perks.. hell, they don't even bother leaving their spi/nik/la7/p51/tiffie.

Its broke, but damned if I know how to fix it.  I say just abolish the perk system all together.  Keep the 262 perked, unperk everything else.  Couldn't possibly be more boring having an arena full of tempests, spit 14s, and F4U4s that won't fight than the current crop.

Well Rooks did get the reset. Meddog and Polaris, nice original insight. Don't think i've seen your whine, errrr, comments before. Don't Blame Rooks for your troubles, I noticed Bish defections/logoffs enmass. Whilst we did have the numbers advantage, both Knits and bish did well to hold us off until your true and dedicated few gave up. Look in the mirror, that's where Knits and Bish will find is the real unfairness of the game.

I'll say it again -- the issue isnt total numbers, its organization. Every squad I've ocme across as a rook has at least one of their squad nights sunday PM. I'd bet total subscribers are about equal, but the rooks who belong to squads show up sunday pm -- if other countries don't do the same, a temporary disparity shows up.

Having said that, there's also a market forces effect here. My autoassigned first country was the Bish, but I got very frustrated at the lack of 6 calls, and the ineffective disorganization I kept seeing. i got tired of losing bases all the time -- so I switched to rook in my second month.

meddog / polaris...

dont forget weeks went into planning this event, like all RJO's

just because we organize to get a high turnout and you bish / knits dont makes us bad how???

the squads that participate in RJO all email eachother,. and in turn each individual squad member. there's some 200 contacts on the RJO email list. imagine if everyone from every squad had shown up.

my only guess as to why you are upset is either you lack the skills to organize something similar, or just want to be in your own "horde" flying your spit/nik/la7's .

get a life, and stop whining about the quantity of your virtual "enemies".
I don't know what to put here yet.

Dred...

These instances are not the norm. They have nothing to do with perks. It is merely a chance for some to massage their egos. These folks aren't about competition...if they were, they would be trying to help organize some opposition. Actually, this is nothing new. Heck, seen even worse odds before (try 7 to 1 arena odds :)).

Personally, I like it when the rooks put up numbers like that. It has forced me to expand my entertainment options (Rise of Nations is good for the couple of hours it takes the rooks to complete their Sunday night circle jerk :)).

So, look at the upside...expand your horizons :D.

Well, it may not even out the numbers, but the benefit of cheap access to perk vehicles and aircraft does tend to offset numbers.

Last evening, during the RJO, my squad was assigned to hold the line against the Knights. So we flew for most of the evening at A62, defending. Numbers were generally equal, but the never ending parade of Knit 262s was amusing. Only a handfull were interested in actually fighting. Most were content to fly around above the fight in the hope that they could cherry pick some guy distracted with other fighters (a common 262 practice regardless of country).

I seem to recall that I saw you there too in a Panzer.

I spent time in F4U-1D, Spitfire V and even flew a sortie in a N1K2. I even ran a couple of resupply goons in. There was a small group of jokers who were flying out of A60. Their whole purpose was to grab a 190 or an La-7 and head to A62 in pairs or alone. Whereupon they would dive on the field and try for a vulch or two before getting whacked. When one of them nailed my SpitV on the rearm pad, I took up a Corsair and went on a dweeb hunt. These guys were trying to sneak in below the radar. While we had a couple of us on station south of our field, most didn't make it.

Another funny sight was the number of former fuel porkers who still insisted on strafing fuel tanks, despite it not being possible to reduce the fuel below 75%. Old habits die hard I guess.

All in all, the fight between the Knits and Rooks was a good old-fashioned even-up brawl. If you enjoy furballs and GV battles, A61 and A62 were the places to be last night. When I finally logged off, no fields had exchanged hands and the fight was still going strong.

Those squads assigned to defense against the Knights almost certainly had more fun than those involved in the Rookskrieg against the Bishops. There was no lack of targets and willing enemy for either side.

Heaven forbid if a bunch of squadrons get together and have a night where they work together to win a map and get perk points and the fun of feeling like they're on a team rather than a giant solitaire tournament.

NoBaddy I will be perfectly happy to talk to anyone on the Knit or Bishop side on what the Rooks did to get themselves out of being the country with the least numbers from 2000-2003. Basically something happened in 9/2003 to cause the Bishop and Knight numbers to take a dive while the Rook numbers held steady and grew a bit.

Several of the Rook squads got together back on 10/2001 and started trying things to improve our situation (combine ops, recruiting drives, etc.) which we think (rightly or wrongly) built the country back up to the point that in 2003 we started having parity in numbers and then more numbers; took 2 years.

More than happy to discuss with you.

I also spent a fair bit of last night discussing the current MA situation via PM with the several C.O.s of the other countries about what might be done to help address things.

Unfortunately, as pointed out most Rook squads have their squad nights on Sundays and have had them that way for a long time. 367th showed some good strategic insight on attacking Rook resources yesterday before the time most of the Rook squads logged on. Nice thinking and well done.

The RJO also fell on last night which bumped up the numbers a bit over usual but not tremendously so consider, as pointed out, there were times when the RJO fielded over 300+ for combined ops. Difference last night was instead of 200+ people doing their own things there was some unified direction.

Several squads duking it out with the Knights in the south in 61, 62, 60, and A9 area.

The defense of A39 was well run and took 2 hours finally to reduce. And the northern counter attacks against A22 and defense of A23 from A25 was well executed.

Was in the fight at and all around 61-62 area and had a great time!!!!!!!

It kept teeter totering back and forth.  Rooks comin in over the field vulchin and then Knights would return the favor further west.

Flew 109's mainly :)  109f4, 109g2, and 109g10, but did get out and into a really good fight near 59 with 4 Rook pony's and a spit that jumped in later while I was in a 190d9, had help from 2 squadies ROCKY and WMSpin.  Think the ponys flew out of A9 area.  We would of had a 4th squadie, teufl (or CO), but he got tied up at A60 with 8 or 10 more ponys. We then got into it with the 5 or 6 left over Rook ponys just west of 60 upon RTB.

Was allot of Knights all around during this stuff engaged with other Rooks was a really good fight!

Numbers seemed pretty even most of the time I was online and in the south.

I would here like to thank the Free Birds for their actions last night!  It looked like the entire squad flew into 61 at one point and dropped supplies!  WTG FBJoker SIR

Was a very enjoyable evening and fight :aok

Wrag tried to have the action split along 4 lines (which changed to 3 later). In the south was deployed III/JABOSTAFFEL, =GHOSTS=, DE OL ONZ of AW, 412th Fighting Brauncos, CAF, and I think 2 other squads that escape me at the moment.

Looked like Knights had about 70% of their forces their from watching Dar Bar; so I think Rooks had a number advantage but nothing catastrophic .. probably around 20 planes. But the narrow front helped make things interesting with neither side really being able to outflank each other.

The other lines of attack were the central Bishop front (which started as two areas then boiled down to a slug match at A39) and the Northern Bishop front which turned into a slug match around 23, 22, and 25.

Then you had a special ops strikes (single squads) doing annoyance raids and a strategic bomber ops launching to hit cities and stuff.

So you had 3 main fronts, 1 minor, and then bomber strikes. I know it didn't seem it but did parse things out a bit but there still was probably 120+ deployed versus Bishops (across 2 fronts), say about 10 in deep bomber ops, and 90 versus Knights.

Figure the Knights had about 88 deployed versus Rooks (70%) and the Bishops had probably a little bit more maybe 100 (80%) best guess .. but could have been at 70% level. And the rest was involved in insipid fighting on the Bishop  Knight Front.

Several areas of well run defense and as 367th pointed out some previous ground work laid.

Heaven DONT forbid. This is a worthy effort and i Salute yous for it. You mean this was an organized effort? :rofl
