Kaboom

This is a pic I took in April of last year in Iskandariayh, Iraq. Everything I learned about the blast was second-hand, but the story is that a local had his home commandeered by Iraqi forces for use as a sizeable munitions cache. I heard that he went to coalition forces and asked for help removing all the stuff and, after having a look at the pile, was given a resounding "NO" due to a couple of obvious and several suspected boobytraps. Appearently he got frustrated and tried to have a go at it himself. The blast was almost 2 miles away from where I took the pic, and you can get some sense of scale by looking at the 2 story building and the trucks parked in the foreground. We felt the shock wave pretty clearly even at that distance...like a brief wind gust.
