MA becoming too much like an arcade room

My opinion is that the MA has been an aerial game of quake (without the power-ups, but with KOTH and CTF and autospawning) for many years now, and possibly since its inception. I also agree that it is clear that the population has spoken, when you see 400 in the main each night and when the CT gets to 40 we get all warm and fuzzy :D

I'll be happy to be a jihadist for the CT, but even I don't find it to be much fun with 20 or less in there. Nothing wrong with spending your entire AH carreer in the MA. But if you are going to complain about the uber-fast late war planes just running away then you've got to realize they have no choice against your pre-44 aircraft. You want parity or any semblance of that then you've got to have realistic planesets.

If I'm tired of hanging out in the fantasy arena (or maybe the "more fantastic" arena ... depending on pov), I'll go immerse in the CT.  I've tried to enlighten. I'll still hold the torch. We got another hooked the other night. :D

Arlo,

That post wasn't meant to be a knock on the CT in any way.  I'm all for the CT, and it seems like it has a great following.  You are right, we all should be able to pick where we want to play, I was just trying to communicate that this whine has been heard MANY times before and it is still pointless :D

The plane can make the difference, but trying to anticipate the opponents move makes the most difference.

I don't know if you were upset when you started this post, but instead of getting mad about seeing the same types of enemies, learn how to beat those rides, then be happy that you see them in the air because most of the time you will own them.

BTW, I think the MA is great, massive online multiplayer games are awesome, and I'll take a MA population of 500 over a CT population of 40 anyday.  :aok

Exactly! This is all about competition and fun at it's heart. Competing with/against 500 people is just more interesting than against 40. Competing against those 500 people while providing them the advantage of free choice with regard to plane and tactics is even more fun. Human opponents are what makes massively-multiplayer games addictive and enthralling. Leaving the potential engagements totally open-ended provides infinite variety for everyone.

For example, you may have fought a Niki or Lgay7 1,000 times in your AH career, but no two fights were exactly the same, and you learn everytime you fight, building upon your experience, as do your opponents. You guys just have to look at it from the perspective of hunting humans in a battle of tactical wit.

Everyone seems to recognize the problem of lack of players in the CT so let me throw out one possible solution.

If a few squads would dedicate a night to run squad ops in there then perhaps a few more players would become interested.

The CT seems like the ideal environment for squads ops.  (It's like a scenario with multiple lives!)  The tighter organizaion of players that are familar with each other and the leadership of units would make for some really good times.  Plus it's a way to draw players over in groups instead of one at a time.  Squads that normally oppose each other might end up on the same side working together so it would add a bit of variety.  Also, squads would be exposed to unattached players that saw the crowd and came over so there's a good chance to do some recruiting.

HTC could sweeten things by offing some kind of "squad challenge" thingie in there but I think that units could just do it on their own and still get results.  (I also think that the so called "historic" squads should be spending at least one night a week in there when their particular geograpy or planes are highlighted... well... just because!)

Anyone else besides me think this might be a solution and would add some variety to their squad's usual routines?
