If you are in a squad, you should be able to assign them a number and when you fly (slot), that number appears on your aircraft.

I have no idea how hard this would take to incorporate, but it would be a nice feature. :)

Agreed.. It's been asked for many times now. Maybe someday HTC will make this happen
