Only time will help and getting another pet as soon as you are up to it.

My handle comes from a favorite Lab I had.

Good Luck

Sorry about Zeus!  Putting him down early is the right thing to do.

WarDog,

I took my handle, buhdman, in memory of a good friend of mine who I had to put down after finding a cancerous tumor in his abdomen.  Buhd was a good friend to me and, even though he was a mutt (Springer Spaniel-Beagle mix = Speagle), he did me proud when he won the blue ribbon in his dog obedience class!  Putting him down was one of the hardest things I have ever had to do.  Missing him is another.

You have my deepest sympathies.

My Friend,

Im sorry to hear of the bad news...I myself had to put down my German Shepard of 11 yrs...that was 10 yrs ago and I'm still not over it.

What helped me is reminding myself that he was loved and had a good life compared to many dogs just left alone in the yard.

Consider yourself blessed to have had a friend such as only a dog can be.

Your Friend,

Otto

Sing a happy song
'Cause Spring does not last long
A flower blooms and then it's gone

Summer follows fast
Make hay while it lasts
Don't ever dwell upon the past

For one day you are here, and the next you are gone
Every horse has its year and every dog its day, my son
So the only thing to feel sad about is
All the dogs and the horses you'll have to outlive
They'll be with you when you say good-bye

Then the Fall from grace
The lines upon your face
Grow deeper almost every day
Days and weeks roll by
And Winter nights draw nigh
And everything that lives must die

But as the curtains close and the last prayers are said
All my dogs and my horses appear round my bed
They have come to say one last goodbye

Goodbye...

Very sorry to hear this, Wardog.

Give Zeus a big thank you for being your best friend for so many years, then have him put to sleep. It's the best thing you can do for him now. If you can stand it, be there with him when he goes. There's no shame in sobbing over a dying friend.

I still have tears in my eyes while writing
this cause memories live on...

He was my pain killer and my joy never ask
for much never complain or mad at me he was
the best wing man I never had ....

Lot of time I tough he was beter than humans
never creticise always happy to see me....

I could look in his eyes and talk to him about evering things which would afect me (sadness or happyness)and the way he looke back at me was like telling me he understoud

I remember ones I was sad I just said hello to him and went to the living room sat on the couch not saying nothing then he came
neer me sat in front of me carrying in his
mouth the harnest and looke right in my eyes
like he was telling me "come lets take a walk and tell me all about it...."so I whent
I told him all about it .....people on the sidewalk tough I was crazy (talking to my dog)but arriving at my home after a while
I felt releived and was happy again

Poeple dont ask why we love so much a dog
but just pay attention to the way they act
and then you'll know why I love animals sometime beter than humans.....

Yes I have another dog but it will never again be like it was with "REX"

wardoghang in there buddy .....

The life is too diddlyin short and always
remember this ZEUSwould never accept
seing you with sadness in your eyes....

ps.please excuse my english writing(spelling)
