funny you mention Jim Croce the day I decided to quit a great job and move away from san jose, CA.  I heard "new york is not my home" on the radio on the way home from work.

Went to my apt, packed up the jeep, and headed back to Arizona unemployed.

There's a country song called "my best friend" gets me emotional.

I tear up every time I hear "taps" on a bugle/trumpet.

One of my earliest memories (about 3 and a half, maybe four) is playing soccer in the back yard, the radio playing on the sundeck. Whatever song that was on got interuppted by the news that Jim Croce just went down in a plane crash. And I did cry... I was a huge fan of the guy.

I went back a few months ago and gave his stuff another listen, and it still stands the test of time. Good stuff.

Aaron Neville's  "I bid you goodnight"

"Lay down my dear Brother, lay down and take your rest
I want to lay your head upon your Savior's breast
I love you, but Jesus loves you best
I bid you goodnight, goodnight, goodnight "

I honestly had no clue who he was till I heard that song mentioned above.  I like alot of his stuff now.  That was a bad/big day for me.  Funny the emotions a song can bring out.....especially when they are tied to a significant event in your life.

Cassandra Wilson - I'm So Lonesome I Could Cry
This one should come with razorblades.  Don't listen to this in the dark while drinking straight bourbon.  Or...maybe that's when you should listen to it  ;)

America the Beautiful.. sung by Brother Ray

Proud to Be an American

Bridge Over Troubled Waters

Amazing Grace - Judy Collins did it best although the instrumental version with bagpipes is good too.

Send in the Clowns

Time in a Bottle

too many to mention... I'm a sucker for that crap.

Cassandra Wilson?, I thought it was Hank.

Hear that lonesome whippoorwill
He sounds too blue to fly
The midnight train is whining low
I'm so lonesome I could cry...

I've never seen a night so long
When time goes crawling by
The moon just went behind the clouds
To hide its face and cry...

Did you ever see a robin weep?
When leaves begin to die
Like me he's lost the will to live
I'm so lonesome I could cry...

The silence of a falling star
Lights up a purple sky
And as I wonder where you are
I'm so lonesome I could cry...

-- Hank Williams

"Send in the Clowns" makes me cry too, but probably for a different reason than it makes you cry :lol

He's my Son- Mark Shultz

It was played at my cousin's funeral and its always gotten to me every time i hear it.

http://www.foxy-productions.com/Music/hesmyson.wav

I'm down on my knees again tonight
I'm hoping this prayer will turn out right
See there is a boy that needs your help
I've done all that I can do myself
His mother is tired
I'm sure you can understand
Each night as he sleeps
She goes in to hold his hand
And she tries not to cry
As the tears fill her eyes

Can you hear me?
Am I getting through tonight?
Can you see him?
Can you make him feel all right?
If you can hear me
Let me take his place somehow
See, he's not just anyone
He's my son

Sometimes late at night I watch him sleep
I dream of the boy he'd like to be
I try to be strong and see him through
But God who he needs right now is You
Let him grow old
Live life without fear
What would I be
Living without him here
He's so tired and he's scared
Let him know that You're there

Can you hear me?
Am I getting through tonight?
Can you see him?
Can you make him feel all right?
If you can hear me
Let me take his place somehow
See, he's not just anyone
He's my son

Can you hear me?
Can you see him?
Please don't leave him
He's my son.
