I have to say im still undecided. The price is right. IMO Theres no doubt about that.

We would all like to have the sim that we want. And of course, we all want different things . So that cant happen. I have some whines that I wont bore u with. They fall in this catagory.

However there are a couple that I do feel serious about.
The last man standing rule is so unfair in nature. That it is really offensive.Example. I attacked 4 cons by myself (I had them surrounded). I wont waste your time with a play by play. But on viewing the film. I had taken the wing off 2 of them and they were augering, the third was smoking, the last was an HO and it looked like I got him before i exploded (hard to tell on the film. All I got for my effort was XXXX killed TT. I worked overtime in that fight. And i deserved more than xxxx killed TT.

Secondly. This is boarderline easymode. My name in WB was easymo. So I know easy mode. When you can push x and pull out of a spin thats just to easy.

Last, the rubber bullit problem I get from time to time. I would buy a new card, get cable, signe up for another isp. Whatever. If they would just tell me what I need to do. I have asked on this board before and never got an answer. I can go weeks with no problem. But when it starts there is no warning. And finding out you have dummy ammo in the middle of a furball is no fun .

Anyway, like I said. I havent decided. Maby if some of you post your reasons pro or con, it might give me a different perspective. Thanks.

I really like what they've done so far.
There are some bugs I asked about two months ago that haven't been touched yet.
Also we have thirty active members in our squad and a few of them are macs.We can not make a move unless everyone can come with us.
Some of them can only play in 2D also and we can't leave them behind either. We'll have to wait and see what happens down the road.

Granger, same fear existed when CK when pay, believe me, you won't have anything to fear.  I would imagine that initially, instead of seeing about 110 online during the week, you may see about 70 to start.

Count me in, got my Platinum warmed up for the occasion.

Hey, np here!

As far as your rubber bullet question is concerned, I think the reason you haven't gotten advice on what to do is that there is no clear way to answer it.

Your connect quality depends on your ISP and HTC's server, but also every hop on the route inbetween. I don't know of any way to ever fix that; I have moved to different ISP's with varying degrees of success, but it is largely trial-and-error. I did finally go ISDN, and that has made a big difference in my connect quality all-around. It is also becoming very affordable to the average user (else I wouldn't do it). We had two phone lines costing $48 a month + $20 ISP = $68 per month. ISDN, which also includes two phone lines, is $55 + $20 ISP =$75 per month.

These prices are dependent on your region, so shop around. The minimal extra cost is money well spent. I even have a router box set up that allows the wife instant-on Internet, and we (as a side benefit) have a LAN. A pretty good deal all-around, something the whole family can use.

Yah.. I'm in.. certainly I feel there's enuff product here already to justify the pay.. and I like the developers attitude and accesibilty.

Staying in?? That will depend entirely on HTC's delivering the other half of the sim.. where's the JABO stuff.. roads; trains; vehicles; ships; etc. I have no doubt they will come; but how they handle the CURRENT ration of playability issues will give me a better feel on what to expect in the future.

This is a super outfit; and the core group of member/players is a very sharp crowd. I expect to have an outstanding time.. and expect that HTC's crew will too.

Agree with you there Hangtime, as I mentioned early in a thread, the first guy that does vehicles in the strat will get the most business, IMO. Business success=offer something that the competition doesn't have, and the people want.

HT staited last night that the first man down rule was written in stone (not his words) There is no way to assign a kill to a dead pilot. Sounds like he dumps the record structure for a pilot on death..if this is one of the centeral attirbutes of the game design is would be hard to get arround. He would have to make a global structure and keep track of things like
TT is dead and on the runway to take off again.
now his three enemys die...
Do we assign those kills to old tt or new tt.. We want numbers like kills per mission and kills per death so it all has to be kept track of.
In a quick vulch situation TT could tag three of his attackers and have them all slowly spiraling to the hills from different flights with different TTs...
hmmmm

Undecided as to signing up...
I would like to see what the comunity is like under pay befor I decided. But the first too weeks of pay will be just like Beta...

You have the general problem pongo, but it gets much worse when you think things like discos. Points award per multiplier from how the flight ended. Plus how many times have said they wan't more of an insentive to live. This is one. And what it realy comes down to is that it's the same score system for everyone so adding the post death kill award dosn't add any fairness and isn't worth the complexity in coding.

the best solution for the kill awards is to award the kills earlier. you don't have to wait until the pilot bails! come up with a definition for fatal damage to an aircraft and assign the kill as soon as the plane has it. for example, once a plane looses a wing, it should be considered destroyed and the kill awarded ( though perhaps not announced until later...). i believe killing the engine on a single engine plane or starting a fire were considered suffecient for a kill at the time. if the plane burns or the prop stops with smoke, you didn't have to see him crash.
this would also solve kill stealing problems ( which i haven't seen as much of here ). if the engine has been killed, then someone else CAN'T get the kill by filling it with cannonfire, because the kill has already been awarded ( though an assist for finishing off might be appropriate).
