lack of class seems 2b the rule.....
« Reply #75 on: August 29, 2004, 02:58:12 AM »
P.S.
What made me the most angry is the fact that he decided to treat me like a child instantly instead of (like an adult) asking why I did what I did. Verbal abuse on the 1st parties part. Maybe I shouldn't have cursed, but I do not believe in letting bullies push people around. Yes, I am a small guy, but I am the one who always fights back and puts bullies in their place. Also, I am 30 years old and am a senior tech for Boeing sattelite systems. I hope that anyone reading this post would take the time to hear both sides, to hear the truth of what happened, instead of hearing a rant from someone who is upset over a game.

OH BTW, I forgot to add, when I confronted him/her about what they did, they CLAIMED they just wanted to see what the pilot's name was, and only unloaded 20 or so 20mm on 'em.

P.S.S.

BTW, I was flying a P51, which doesnt have 20mm, they 50 cals.

So you won't even bother with the excuse that "you were merely putting some rounds into the falling wreakage to identify the worthy opponent in the fight that others actually participated in but you think you did as well because you were a nearby observer rather than simply asking the other player or players that actually put rounds into the badguy plane during the fight who he was so (insert plenty of cussing) cause I'm a grownup (insert more cussing)?"

*My $0.03 worth on the subject*

I been gone a couple years, and figured my horse wasn't in this race, but now that I'm coming back, I figured I'd speak out on this sorest of sore topics...  Here's how I see the situation;
  • Impunity: Pottymouths do it because there is little to no reprecussions.  In other words, they are not held accountable for their actions.
  • Todays role models; How many CD's, or Albums covers actually show the artist *role models* smiling, or thoughtful?  Most of the popular ones are scowling, or looking like they want to intimidate, and that is seen as "cool" by their followers.  Of course immitation being the sincerest form of flattery, the followers *totally brainless idiots imho* affect the "look", and act the lyrics.
  • American society, as a whole, sat back and let rude behavior become the norm. (yes I am an American.)
I could go on and on about the woes of poor parenting, but I won't.  I'm not saying ALL music is crap.  I also know that my eclectic taste in music isn't what everyone likes, and am big enough to admit that they can change the channel on their own sets.
I am not going to say that being raised on a farm, with "good ole boy" work ethics, and traditional Christian American morals is the way to go.  But it worked for me and many others.

I am going to say that rude game behavior is not something we, the gamers, should have to put up with.  However, until a better way comes along to make the transgressors accountable for their errant ways, we are stuck with what we got.

So squelch the rummy curmudgeons at let them rant to dead air.

Thank you for helping make AH a better killing environment.

No, Arlo, I'm saying that if you don't want your kill 'stolen' then don't let them drift down to the deck in flames and expect the other friendlies in the area to sit there and not take a shot at them. In other words, finish your kills. If someone steals a kill from you, it's your own fault for not following through on your kill. If I see a red icon, I am goign to shoot at it and I don't give a zip doodley dee dah who shot it first. Unethical? Maybe, but then I'm not out to improve anyone's score but mine and my squad mates.
A kill is a kill, an assist means you didn't cut the mustard.  I wouldn't leave a twenty dollar bill lying around in a public place, cause I wouldn't want it 'stolen', why leave your kills dangling in the air then? Would you drop your wife off at the bar with a hundred bucks then come storming back in hours later and start pounding heads? Why leave the door open?
Kill stealing is a myth perpetuated by score freaks that realize in horror that maybe they didn't finish the enemy off at the last minute, then they get mad when someone walks in an open door.

Lets say you have this most awesome superduperdoubledeluxedelishd agwood sandwich you made and took a few bites from. Then while you go to the fridge to look for a drink some goofus walks in and takes the sandwich.

Or you're in Cheers drinking a beer, and while you go water your horse, Norm walks over and takes ur beer.
Surrounded by suck and underwhelmed with mediocrity.
I'm always right, it just takes some poepl longer to come to that realization than others.
I'm not perfect, but I am closer to it than you are.

Ramble... ramble... rationalize... excuse... ;)

AHHHH!!!!! So ... if you don't want your kill 'stolen' by 'friendlies' you have to unload alot more ammo into a plane that, by all rights, you just 'killed' by 'shooting it's wing off' and players who dive down to pump rounds into burning wrecks to 'get credit for a kill' are just 'playing the game the way it's designed to be played.'

My bad. I thought shooting obviously burning, falling planes to steal someone's kill was a 'bad thing', possibly deserving some scorn and ridicule. Something to be 'ashamed' about. I'm glad you 'set me straight' on that. We'll wing up and I'll 'help' you 'kill' the bad guys. But not before you shoot a wing off or sumpin. :D

Flying around you’re a much more patient man than I am. I would have sent it all to HTC with the hopes they would have been banned. You see, had you been a new costumer odds are pretty good you might have logged and never came back. Permanent revenue loss.

Talking to the C.O. is good also, if they have one. Back in WB once a fellow in a well known and respected squad cussed out one of my squadies. He took pictures. I sent them to this guys C.O. Two days later he apologized to everyone involved.

As for dueling them… Well that would just prove they are a better pilot then I am so I tend not to settle things that way.

And if your kids love to watch you play a video game, you need to reset priorities. Kids don't like to watch - they like to participate.
My son is now flying under the call sign of sondog. He is learning slowly. If he ever does anything wrong someone let me know. I will explain it to him. :)

BINGO!! :aok

And I wouldn't toss half a  superduperdoubledeluxedelishd agwood sandwich on the ground before I had consumed it shane, putting it in the fridge is one thing, letting it fall slowly into a pack of wild ravenous dogs is another ;)

This was done, and as far as the CO was concerned the matter was closed, then the next day it showed up on the BB. As both parties felt agreived, The CO discussed it with both players and decided two grown men should be allowed to settle their differences between themselves. It was little more than a spat and no blood was shed as far as the CO knows. The CO has also known player A for a long time, and knows he is not a demon, CO also knows that Player B is a decent enough chap, and would not suprise him in the least to see this matter resolved by a simple leaving it be.

Player A got mad, Player B got mad, Player C is trying to stay out of it, maybe player D and E, F and G etc. should too eh?  ;)

That last reply has got to be the best comment I ever seen you type on these boards, twitchy!  simply outstanding!
"When one considers just what they should say to a new pilot who is logging in Aces High, the mind becomes confused in the complex maze of info it is necessary for the new player to know. All of it is important; most of it vital; and all of it just too much for one brain to absorb in 1-2 lessons" TC
