My latest work in progress:

Wing Commander "Jack" Charles' Spitfire MK IX of the Tangmere wing during the summer of 1944.

Extra thanks to Kev367th for the panel lines and rivets!

Looking good.

Your gonna hit a few skin glitches with DDay stripes.

1) The underside radiators are a mirror.
2) The intake under the nose will go white as it gets its color fron the wing.
3) The front part of the fuselage stripes color comes from the other file (spitwing).
4) Cannons end up different colors.
5) Top of fusealge is a small piece that gets its color from somewhere else, too make things worse its badly skewed.

Only fix I found was to do one where the upper wing stripes and top 1/2 of fuselage stripes had been removed.

Good luck, looking great up to now.

I havent looked at it in detail, but I do notice #2 that you have listed just in that one picture.

Im going to go ahead with it and see how it turns out, then fiddle around and see if i can get it looking better.

Added scratches, color variations, and a little more weathering.

I found the spot on the upper fuselage that takes its color from the wing.  Its a small sliver just behind the radio tower object.  Turns out that this one isnt going to be able to be accurate because of it, but here's what I have now anyways.

Only thing I can see wrong is that your stripes on the fuselage are a little broad.
Use panel lines and link to pic to get them closer to actual size, it may help with the underneath problem you will hit later also.

Im going to fix that, along with several other mistakes I see tomorrow.

Thanks for the info.

Gave up on this one.  Too much mirroring and incorrect placements.  It cant be done historically accurate because of it.

Oh well, time to search for another one!

Find one where D-Day stripes are on the lower wing surfaces only and lower 1/2 of fuselage.

Might consider doing this one.

This is an actual D-Day survivor Spit IX.  Don't get put off by the clipped wings.  It didn't have them when it was flying combat in the summer of 44.  The paint scheme is the exact one it wore in combat.

Half stripes.   443 RCAF  "Hornet" Squadron.  It has a number of wartime kills to it's credit.

Not to take the wind out of anyone's sails, but there's already a Spit IX skin in the game with invasion stipes.  So is this new one different?  Not that HTC hasn't doubled them.  We have two F6F skins which are based on the same plane done by two different people.

i did the other spit with stripes.. there are a few glitches that cannot be overcome, my advice is do your best and submit it..use dirt to cover up problems..also my advice is not to use white for the stripes use a cream..if you go and fly my skin offline you can see where i have hit and missed..
also have fun doing it, dont kill yourself trying to solve the glitches..:aok
