Fly for an interesting fight. Flying into 5 bandits above me = not interesting. Chopping throttle and diving 15k to a slow bandit = not interesting. Comming in to a 2 vs 3 or flying the paremeter of a base thats being captured = interesting. Some of the best fights I've had concluded with landing little more than an assist - but the range vox was electric and team oriented.

Unfortunately Nomde, the norm seems to be more like " I believe the art of the game is to devise a strategy to engage inferior  odds with overwhelming force, disrupt thier mission, then RTB alive"

if it wasn't the dar bars would be sort of evenly spread, which they rarely seem to be.

I fly to live but it don't always work out that way.  I enjoy a good T&B fight and landing kills.

If i'm low on fuel / ammo it's RTB.  Keep a burst in the guns for insurance going home.

I would have to say this...I would rather die with 7 kills than rtb with 1.  RTB is great, but for me I like to get something out of each flight.  I like to get atleast 3 kills before thinking of heading home, unless Im shot up or low gas.

We all play different. Since the planes are pretty much (ENY)unlimited, and cost 15 bucks a month whether I wreck em or return em, Im not too worried about it as long as Im having fun.

I fight harder to live than the purest furballers, but I'm more willing to die than the pure K/D warriors.

The combination of cautiousness with random bursts of recklessness can be very unsettling to the K/D warriors who make the mistake of pegging an opponents fighting style too early in a fight.

Redd,
There's a difference between "forming" a strategy and actual practice. I believe the reality of the game lays somewhere between all the replies in this post.

Our squad stresses everyone making it home safe after a mission. It doesn't always happen, and during some missions none of us RTB. Like playing chess, you don't always win, but the enjoyment is forming a strategy and watching it unfold.

It's a continual learning process, if nothing is learned, then nothing gained.

I will be the first to admit that on some days, the best strategy is to saddle up with your favorite beer, a warm sheep, and watch the slaughter unfold :D
