I spoke to the managing director of our firm in the Turks and Caicos earlier.  They are going to get hit hard.

We have an insurance company there, a corporate services and accounting firm, buildings, houses and condos.

Our net worth could be significantly less tomorrow.

Yes, it is called "reinsurance".

Insurance companies also "lay off" risk to ther insurers, which is what Nilsen is referring to.

Regardless...the insurance company will take a huge hit if this thing is as bad as it is expected to be.

My dad works for Verizon and is a Sys Admin, but he's now being called a Developer.

He has to make sure he's got the servers backed up, and then he's gotta make sure the Server don't go down during the hurricane, and of course the Tech guys gotta worry about the towers going down, literally..

Hey watch it...That was the Sea Cadets not the  Navy..just a bunch of other kids and alot of (not all of course, trying not to sterotype) teen-age kids don't respect anything or anybody.

Hope ya'll fair well.

I grew up in Jax..lived there 25 out of my 28 years...never hit...the Hurricanes always squeek by us. Hopefully it will this time too.  3 generations of my family live there.

Well two hurricanes (almost three) in a couple weeks is about once a century type thing.

I will tell you, having been all over Florida in the summer ( and living in Arizona for 33 years) that Florida is a hot, humid watermelon hole for the most part.

Florida has some really nice areas, but overall it's a swamp filled with inbred types.
