How stable you latency is almost more important than how low.

High latency will result in you seening planes further back along their historic track (as they will see you further back along yours), and a longer delay before damage done to a foe reaches them and becomes visible.

Variable latency will see you (adn from your point of view everyone else) doing starship enterprise impressions.

160-170 on Good Days, 300-350 on Weekends. That's from belgium, don't bother looking on a map, you 'll miss it

I have a cable modem and i get about 40-50ms. I live in Missouri, Usa.

Hmm, so probably anything below 300-400 ms is enough not to annoy you co-players too much...

1AM here now, ping avg 532ms  

As long as its stable that fine for air to air, haven't yet been asked to relog or had anyone squeak about me warpin etc.

Uhmmm,...2ms on a bad day,..never any packet loss.

It seems that only the light speed is the limiting factor - pretty good conn, Skuzzy    Only in Texas <sigh>.  

Light moves about,about - well about 600 km in 2 ms.  Hey, so something close to 80 ms (Finland-Texas-Finland) is just unavoidable.

Just a rough estimate...

Mine never was better than 650ms. Average around 750. Till 850-900 it is playable. Believe it or not.

It seems you problems is not with lag, but with warps. That is the whole other story.

Cox just updated their backbone 2 days ago, i get a steady 17-23ms (south texas)
