Where is the FUN?
« on: September 13, 2004, 03:07:24 PM »
Hi Ladies and Gentlemen of the AH Community.
Being into real life aviation since 1975,I came to Aces High with only one purpose, to have FUN.
Some people call AH "a game" others call it a "simulation".
As I always say, the flying, the combats, are simulated.
The emotions one feels while participating in the "Aces High Experience" are not.
The joy you feel when you win a dogfight over a though opponent, the concern you feel for squadies or country buddies in danger, etc are VERY REAL.
I have been quite satisfied with Aces High in terms of "online gaming experience", in other words, in terms of FUN.
Lately with the implementation of this "ENY" thing all I see in the Main Arena, is a lot of complaints about people not being able to fly this or that plane...
Instead of the happy environment we used to have, the usual wisecracks, plans to take this or that field, all I see is a text buffer filled with complaining abou that "ENY" thing...
Most of my FUN is gone.
Not for being unable to fly this or that plane, since I've been doing it, in real life, for almost 30 years, but I want to be in a happy environment, with most of the guys satisfied with the "AH Experience".
It's sad...
Please HTC, reconsider game rules, so many others, and I, for different reasons, can have our FUN back.

HTC has the best customer support of any developer I've seen. They actually listen to their subscribers...

...But, it's too bad that they listen to the wrong ones. The ones who whine about every little thing that doesn't go their way.

This is why we now have ENY. This is why we can only pork fuel to 75%. This is why we have most of the gameplay problems we have.

I'm gonna stay... I'm not one to quit on something that has this much potential.

Don't forget about those that weren't having FUN prior to the ENY disabler ... I guess you musta missed hearing from all those unhappy souls.

Mutley,

Did you read the original thread that ultimately resulted in the ENY chosen as the numbers limiter? Hitech was impressed with  how well everyone discoursed the subject and retained their objectivity rather than the usual flavor for such discussions.

It may be time for a polite and objective review by the community on how it is or is not working. I'm not sure if it has accomplished what we thought it would. Hitech did warn that he would implement "something" because we were not working together on the numbers issue.

I'm not sure, but my impression from Hitech is that we emote too much in our threads about this rather than ask and answer: "Is this working for us?" Yes or No?

Hitech does not impress me as "unreasonable" about this issue. Rather reasonable modes of communication are the issue. As much as the providor of a service has to be courteous to the customer, in turn the customer owes the same courtesy to the providor.

It was Slack which I obviously use here still, until a bit of closed the account/no time for flying exile.

Now it's Rust, which is what covers my flying and the plane :)

The FUN is where you find it. The game is what you make of it.

Bustr and friends.
I agree with you Bustr.
But, in NO moment did I criticize HiTechTech, or HTC Support.
Quite the opposite, and, if HiTechCreations did not show respect for Customers, we wouldn't be here, freely  stating our opinions.
I have already told Hitech in the Main Arena, how much I admire and respect him and HTC Staff.
Aces High is not just an exceptional feat of Programming but of Enterprising as well.
Of course I am satisfied with Support, if it were different, I would have left a long time ago.
But, people were getting unhappy before, and are NOT happier now.
What I advocate is a compromise position in which we can all enjoy a better gaming experience.
And please, let's treat the subject with objectivity and fairness, so we can all profit in the end.
