Ok negative people, the B-24J wasn't at the top of my list either, but it is still a good plane.

It will get used in the MA, which is HTC's bread and butter.  That is particularly important in this release.  To get MA usable units that are done to AH2 standards in the game will help gain subscribers.  Units like the B-24J and Ki-84-I-Ko that will see very wide usage in the MA.

The fact is that the B-24J is a classic aircraft and is a valuable addition to AH.  We will get more aircraft.

For my part I am looking forward to playing around with not only the Ki-84 that I wanted, but also the B-24 that wasn't really on my list.  It will be a great addition to AH.

Is it just me, or is the B-24 in the pictures missing it's top turret?  The B-24 did have a top turret, right?

So whats the B17 for?

B17 should be able to handle more damage...

B17 has a belly gunner....

According to a 390th BG vet I spoke to couple weekends ago... 17 could fly higher than the B24 also.

B-24 has a belly gun as well. It also happens to be retractable.

And I'll toss in my two cents, and say I would of loved to have seen a bomber -other- than the '24. A Ju-188, Betty, Hardnosed B-25 (With 75mm and parafrags...*drool*). Like someone else mentioned, the 24 is gonna end up like our other two heavy bombers: A gigantic dive bomber.

Hell, atleast they could of given us the Condor...-that- was a bomber that was built to have some kind of dive bombing ability...it'd fit right in with the MA :D

1. Might could but there's some contention, it seems.

2. B-24 has a belly gunner.

3. Might could but there's some contention, it seems.

4. It's obviously a done deal. We may as well smile, accept it and have fun with it. (And while we're at it get ready to give Pyro our next choice, should he poll the clients for it. I'm still pushin' for the Sparviero. ;))

No it wasn't.

There seem to be some rather large delusions about the Condor.

The Condor was designed as a passenger aircraft for Lufthansa and was pressed into service as a patrol bomber by the Germans due to it's extreme range for it's day.  It was, however, completely unsuited to combat.  Structually weak, several broke their backs while landing.

In the terms of AH's MA or CT and reality the Ju88A-4 was a vastly more survivable warplane that just didn't have the needed range.  The Condor was fragile, slow (224mph) and only carried a 2,100kg (4,630lb) bombload.

The only reason the Fw200 was as successful as it was is because it operated outside of the range of Allied fighters at that stage of the war.  I know of at least on occasion where a freighter equipped with a Hurricane on a catapult resulted in the destruction of two of them as they orbited the convoy to guide the U-Boats in.  Once long range Allied aircraft like the P-38, P-51 and Mosquito became available the Condor's goose was cooked.

As a Mossie driver I'd find great pleasure in a scenario of Mossie VIs vs. Fw200s, but it would be hard to find Luftwaffe fliers for it.

It will probably have a loadout with 2,000lb bombs though.  At least I'd think it would.

At least i think it should in keeping things proportionate

I salute the hard work and certainly appricate the effort in making the B-24...But I am EXTREAMLY disapointed to see this plane being modeled.

Im betting that now, since both artists have some experience in the new AHII game engine, fighters and bombers will roll out much faster.
