ask your doctor.
many different types, it depends on what the doctor prescribes.
all of them have a label and they all must meet or exceed what label says. And be FDA approved.
if you have any problems at all, like dry eyes, redness, sore eyelids, etc.  go to or call eye doc right then.

don't delay, a friend almost lost his eyesight because lens didn't fit perfect and he was stubborn about wearing them.

oh a tip, have a pair prescription eyeglasses for backup.

If you can afford them, disposable are the only way to go. As for the brand, check with your Doc. There are good and bad points with each brand, depending on your eyes.

Oh yeah, order some of the 8-ball and smiley face contacts for halloween. They are a riot.

Stay thirsty my friends.

What sort of eye condition do you have? What sorts of contacts are you getting?

Some basic notes:

A) You may notice at first that your body doesn't want you to put stuff in your eyes.  You may have trouble maneuvering your fingers so they plop stuff in the eye.  Strange, isn't it, how our bodies are ill-disposed to doing stuff like that?

B) Red tip means "don't put in eye, moron". Never mistake a red-tipped eyedropper for a clear one.

C) Carry a spare contact case with you, and if possible, some glasses.

D) Don't mess with your eyes. Follow the handling directions precisely.
Basically, no blood goes to the cornea (which is why cornea transplants are so successful -- almost no chance of rejection), so that part of the body relies on tears to keep it clean (think bacteriological content of a fast moving stream). Contacts put someting solid in there, giving an opportunity for crap to grow. So make sure your handling procedures are as sterile as possible.
Yeah, sure, I've seen people do really stupid things, like pick a contact off the floor, rewet in their mouth (=highest concentration of bacteria in the body) and reinsert them; and I've seen them do it with no ill effects. But if you're like me, you value your vision.

I have Acuvue2 lenses, they are pretty good I guess. There is a new "breathable" version of soft contacts they allow you to wear them more and take them out less. I havent tried those since the cost on them is a good chunk higher, depending on what vision insurance you have.

I wear the Focus night and day lenses.

Can wear them for 30 days straight, then just take them out at 30 days and put in new ones.

The doctor won't give them to you though. You have to wear the ones they give you until they know you can wear contacts.

Then, after that, if you want the night and days, you get them. But, you have to go back to the eye doctor more frequently.

I've been wearing them for close to a year now. No problems. I like being able to wake up and not have to put something on or in to see.
