Anyone restore, own or work on WW2 aircraft?

I've been kicking around the idea of planning some road trips - packing a small suitcase and some recording equiptment. Go around recording different aircraft. But to  get all the nuances of the planes - flaps, canopies / doors opening and closing, landing gears (only possible if gear work is being done on airplane and it's hoisted or jacked up) Not neccesarily looking for "in-flight" sounds - just start-ups / shut-down and a running engine.

I'll actually be in Colorado Jan1-8th.

Would be curious if anyone does work in  / around the aircraft and would be willing to let recording be done, what planes are available? Might make for a fun trip. and an authentic soundpack for AH users


Anyone got any hispanos or shvaks they want to pop a few rounds off to be recorded? lol

Got a .50 cal I can let you listen too... its about $3.00 a round right now to fire, so keep that in mind.

that and a few .30 cals.... bout .29 a round.

Not sure what will be in the shop.  We should be in the midst of a move from one location to another then, hopefully our new buildings!

Would be willing to entertain ya if you are in the area. (provided you buy me beer)

good thing i'll only need to record single shots...lol might be able to get away with 3-4 pops of each....

what part of CO. are you in? I'll be in Steamboat Springs for work, but will be driving up and down there from Texas. If you're not too far off the route, might stop by. Will know more details later on..and if you're too busy moving - no big deal. Think I'm going to start hitting up some places in Texas see if they would be receptive to the idea.
I usually have Sun-Wed off, so might make for some good day trips.


Also, if anyone knows anyone who does this type of work or has contact info and aircraft types, pass the word on. I'm starting to think it would be a fun project to do.

Airshows would be cool, but the only thing is, it that there is TONS of ambient noise that would be present. Other aircraft engines, fly-bys, ect....not to mention the guy on the PA.

I think for audio recording purpose it would have to be early AM or after the airshow is done in the evening. I'll wing you an email, I'm working the weeend of the W.O.H airshow, but who knows. Midlands a hike, but might be worth it.
