For example, it is none of your business why TheBug was not chosen.  That is showing respect to TheBug.  If he wants to know why, he can contact us directly.

Chosing to post what you did accomplishes nothing positive.  If the decision required your input, we would have asked for it.  It didn't.
If you have issues with us, then why not direct them to us?  Airing it out in a public forum is not going to accomplish anything.  Your choice to denegrate HTC, in a public forum, says you have no wish to solve anything, but are content to create angst.  Then your response defends that position.

And as far as showing no respect to you?  Well, if that were the case, theis thread could be closed, and your remarks removed from the thread.  You are out of line and show a disdain to admit it.  Do not expect to be respected for that.

Discussions in forums should be about achieving something positive.  A basic exchange of ideas with a potential for an end result.  They should never be about attacking anyone.  There is nothing useful to be gained from that.  Take a look at your post again, and tell me what is useful about it?

Roy,

With all due respect to you personally.

At no time did I mention myself with regard to anything or any issue.  It's not about me.  It is however about a slight to the CT players as a group.  The group made a choice HTC decided not to honor that.  That is all within HTC's prerogative.

On to the other topics.

I don't concern myself about whether you respect me or not because your opinion of me will not change the two significant factors in my life. The first one is the price of beer in my town and the second is how much money I will make this year.

I on the other hand can affect the amount of money you make this year.  Not so much as an individual afterall what is one less $14.95?  But it would still be less.  I am mostly pleased with the game should the day come that I become mostly displeased I will simply leave.

I made a comment, you are offended by that comment.  I don't see why you should be personnally offended but you may choose to be if you want to.  You brought the issue of respect up not I.  If you are offended by my opinion of HTC there isn't much I can do about that.  My opinion remains the same and in fact is re-enforced by outburst such as the one I'm responding to.  I made a comment on the boards to my fellow players.

I have nothing that I wish to say to HTC directly.

Edit away if you feel you must, lock away if you feel you must.

Interrupting the free flow of opinion will go a long to further the US vs THEM mentality that HTC seems to be fostering.  This is again my opinion.

I guess the only thing you boys want to hear is what a great job you're doing and any other opinion is deemed an assault, affront or disrespectful.  The greatest and largest room in the world is the room for improvement.  That fact applies to us all even, HTC.

Skuzzy,

I run a small game company myself, but the principle is the same.
The customer is the company. There will always be issues in any game and the feed back will not always be positive. I also have clients who are strongly opinionated, but the last thing I would ever do is debate them in a public forum. This is an issue better resolved privately and does not reflect well for HTC.

Personally, I have nothing but respect for you. You have always been helpful and friendly in my dealings with you so please don't take this as a personal thing.

Bear, I wholeheartedly agree this should be handled privately.  At the same time, I am curious why it is okay for people to call us names publicly.  And Bear, you would also agree that a customer never gets the right to abuse someone by simply paying for a service or product.

It is never appropriate to abuse any member of this community or HTC.  There is nothing anyone can say that will justify that type of behavior.  This is a position we have held for as long as the board has been running.  The simple reason is there is nothing to be gained from it and much to lose.

By the way, I do not take these things personally, but referring to anyone at HTC in a derogatory manner is not going to be ignored, just as referring to any member of this community in a derogatory manner is not going to be ignored.
I cannot think of anyone here who is myopic nor a pinhead.  I happen to work with some very bright and hard working people who I am proud to be associated with.

Thank you Roy,

Your last post explains quite a bit of what I see as needing improvement within HTC.

Step outside of the box a minute Roy.

look at the game and the player comments from the player's perspective and see if quite a few decisions (none of which are exclusively CT) could not be easily considered myopic.  Then consider months of field related commentary on said decisions being ignored and it isn't difficult for me to just write it off as a "pinhead" is doing this.

I suppose the nature of the game industry allows you to simply blow people off, so you do.  I would suggest you guys never leave the game industry.

Kinda reminds me of Henry Ford saying  "the public can have the model T Ford in any color, so long as it's Black".  That pinheaded decision was instrumental in the birth of General Motors, but hey what do I know.

As far as the brilliance of the people in your organization is concerned, I wholeheartedly agree that you are a brilliant bunch of computer types.  I also never called into question your work ethic because it is evident it's there.  Being brilliant in anything doesn't make you a good businessman It just means you are very good in one specific area that's all.

Six people are on commuter flight when the airplane suffers mulitiple catastrophic engine failure.  The pilot and co-pilot each grab a parachute and head for the door, poof out they go.  The passangers were

A philantropist
A Scientific genious
A Catholic Priest
A Boy Scout

There are three parachutes left.

The Philanthropist grabs one stating that he has much good to do in the world before he dies grabs a bag and jumps.

The Genious states that he is too important to the world to die yet, grabs a pouch and jumps.

The Priest looks at the Boy Scout and says "son, my place with my Lord is secure because I have placed my trust in him, you take the last parachute".

The Boy Scout looks at the Priest and says " Take it easy Padre, That genious grabbed my back pack when he jumped.  there are still two parachutes left".

Even Geniouses sometimes make mistakes.  :aok

You say this should be handled in another forum.  I say we have issues you would rather not deal with.  That again is my opinion.  I will post nothing further on this topic.  It is clearly a waste of time.

Skuzzy,

I'm not defending or condeming either position here. I've read literally hundreds of posts where players are attacking other players and HTC. This game appeals to us A type personalities. We're aggressive and with that comes the inevitable conflicts. Personally I see little value in the BBS. Many threads start off with legitimate ideas and soon denegrate to worthless babble and personal attacks.

Obviously it would be near impossible to monitor all threads. If your position is that of no tolerance, then you will have to make the attempt or not single out certain people.

Bear, I am not saying we have a zero tolerance position.  I said there is never a time when it is right to be abusive to members of the community or to HTC.

This is the whole point and one that continues to be glossed over with rationalizations.

It is ashame you guys can not get a CT staffer that will devote his time to make sure the game is up and running properly. I give the last CT staff a D- in this area.

I think The Bug would have been just fine.

I have left the game.

I will never get over the embarrassment of belonging to the same species as you. You are a monster, an ogre, a malformity. I barf at the very thought of you. You have all the appeal of a paper cut. Lepers avoid you. You are vile, worthless, less than nothing. You are a weed, a fungus, the dregs of this earth. And did I mention you smell?

ouch!!

you should encyp these messages...
