Need CH Force FX install disk
« on: October 14, 2004, 03:05:27 PM »
Hi,
I bought used pedals, and also got a CH Force FX joystick.

But there was no install disk, so I cant get the force stuff to work here in AH.

Does any one have the install disk? Or is it a install Cd?

If so, maybe it is possible to put on a server for down load?

Althogh, I use XP, and I guess the force stuff wont work any way ?

Here's their download page for their tech support.........the ForceFX driver is there, but its listed for 95/98/Me.  I have no idea if it will work in XP, but I'm sure they have a way on the website to contact them.

Good luck!

Sorry I didnt see it before, they bluntly state on their website that analog products will not work in Windows XP (they now call them "legacy products".  *sigh*  This link is the drivers for all analog products to make them recognizable by Win2000 and WinXP.

This wont enable the FF, but it will allow XP to recognize your stick and give you basic functionality as a joystick.  I have to assume your stick is analog as I have never yet seen a CH FF stick made for USB (if they did I'd switch to USB in a heartbeat lol).  My CH Flightstick is analog and it works fine in XP as a generic 4-button joystick with hat switch.  I havent installed the analog XP drivers yet for it so I cant tell you how well they work.  Good luck!

Yes thanks, I can get it to work without the FF.

I could maybe install a win98 dual boot, but from a thread I can read that I still would need the originall install disk to get the *.inf files for FF.

Tho, I also managed to find and used Microsoft SW 2 FF stick, so maybe I just use that and the pedals :)

But the CH Force stick is prety cool loking, tho it is missing throttle and 8 way hat :(

Thanks for your help

Just so you know, CH also sells the parts for their sticks on the website.  Fairly cheap.  You can buy new hat switches, new buttons, new gimbals and pots and springs.  Pretty much everything except the outside case can be replaced and made new.

As for the dual boot idea, it would work.  The first link I posted was for the .exe that installs the FF drivers in Win98.  Download that exe file and run it, it will install the FF software and all the drivers.  If you run under Win98 to fly, your FF stick will work.

One other note you might be interested in (or not) if you look through the site.  They are clearancing out all their "legacy" hardware.  Meaning all the analog stuff they still have they are selling for dirt cheap.  They have Fighterstick Pro joysticks for 19 bucks, and some older ones for as low as 12 dollars.  I ordered one as a backup.  :)  Of course, it cost me for the international shipping, but still cheap for a quality stick.

Post here if you still need the ForceFX drivers. They are the DX5 drivers, IIRC, the last ones they made for the CH FFX stick.
