NASH.....you have shocked me tonite....and yes my spelling suckes....especially when I'm granted a much deserved day off so I start saluting the Capt Morgan.

WHEN HAVE YOU BEEN TO YUMA ARIZONA?

that's my old stomping ground.  I was infamamous there for a milisecond!  Seriously, I plan to retire there.....unless I find some small northern montana town w/ good values and DSL!  ;)

PS Yuma, AZ aint bad people at all.  They are good hard working Americans.   Most of them would like to stay in the town and find a good job to live well off there.  Aside from all the snowbirds from Canada and Oregon winter there is Great!

The Nixon/Al gore Pandoras box hit the nail on the head.  Al Gore was so lacking in respect for the system (and our country), that he threw away several hundred years of tradition (that of course being not being labled a crybaby, and to drag the nation through 6months of heck recounting the votes).  Nixon coulda' done it way back, but had too much respect.  His and Kennedy's race was within 100k or so votes.  Strange stuff happened during that election, like Kennedy loosing 90% of the counties in Ill, but WINNING it by 8k votes.  (cough Mob).  So why didn't Nixon whine and moan like Gore (and soon to be Kerry) did?  Respect.  Respect for the office of the President.  I feel that  is also why he stepped down (cough Clinton), during the Watergate scandal.  I'm not sure where we lost that respect for such things, but it is too bad; it was one of the things that made us "great".

We don't need the Supreme Court dictating WHO our president is, which is the eventual outcome if we start throwing so many laywers around.  IF you win, fine.  If you lose, also fine.  The system works.  The fact that Kerry is going to choose a cabinet even if he doesn't get the electoral votes speaks volumes for his character or lack thereof.

Anyhoo......  It won't be that close I think, and I predict Bush will pull it out by a good 5% popular, and plenty o' electoral votes.

p.s. asinine

Gore certainly made the history books in unique fashion...the first presidential candidate to ever take back a concession.  His campaign was also the first to file legal proceedings to contest presidential election results.

Of course, Gore was fully justified in both actions.

Bush was way out of line when he refused to accept the ruling of the heavily democratic State Supreme Court of Florida and appealed its recount decision to the heavily republican U.S. Supreme Court.

That dirty low-life!  How DARE he stand up for himself!

Why, I'd write to my local ombudsman and press for the immediate sealing of the border.

again nash shows the difference between the left and everyone else.    I think this will hurt the democrats more than about anything they could do.   I think the lefties feel that "the end justifies the means" ideal they live by is embraced by the rank and file American...

I think they are wrong... I think they misscalculated.

Dems will need more than six swat teams if they want to challenge every state lost to the Reps.  Don't be surprised if the election is not nearly as close as the liberal media agitation to keep everyone hyped.

nash... do you really think this is a good thing?    Every recount ever done in Florida essentially said that the first count was the most accurate.

Doesn't it become more likely that there will be errors the more time the votes are counted or.... is that what you are counting on?

do you stop the counting when the error swings your way or do you do a recount when the then loser feels that it was too close to give up..... and on and on...

Some states have laws that demand recounts if it is within a certain percentage...  some states do not.... Gore won a few states by razor thin margins.... margins that would have tripped Floridas recount automation.... Should Bush have been asking for endless recounts in those states till he got the results he wanted?

should the election be decided by who has the most clever lawyers or the most state judges in their pockets?
