For All the Rooks out there
« on: October 24, 2004, 03:07:00 PM »
This is for all you Rooks out there that seem to think that the best thing for you to do is fur ball, Vaulch and look out for you own best interests or scores. Well that is you choice. Seeing you managed to pay for a computer and all and somehow managed to download this game. However, I do believe that this is a combat simulation game that requires a tad bit of thinking, planning and strategy. Not to mention some flying skills. I have found in order to become successful in this game one must take bases from the opposing countries. Unfortunately there are a lot of mindless buffoons out there and you know who you are, that just don’t get it. If you haven’t been keeping up with current events, allow me to update you. We, The Rooks, Have been getting our collective hinnies kicked by the other two countries. It hasn’t been a close whipping. Oh no, this has been an all out, in your face, pointing and laughing “Rooks suck”, blood bath.

Last night was pathetic we lost 13 bases in 1 hour. Thirteen! Think about that. How is it possible to lose that many bases in that short amount of time unless we don’t want to win the war? Well maybe some of you reading this think that winning the war is not the biggest part of the game. If your one of them please log off and go play in traffic or something because you don’t understand the concept of a war game like Aces High. Perhaps a game more along the line of “Shoots and Ladders” would be of more interest to you. For the rest of us not interested in “Shoots and Ladders” or playing in traffic, lets look at this from a more positive view point shall we?
Lets take into consideration, if we take out the strategic points of a base and possibly the surrounding bases, then took out fighter hangers and the vehicles hangers, then we could worried about who or what might try to launch so you can get your easy vaulch kills. Then maybe we might be able to get a goon in to capture the city and we could move onto the next base. If we did this enough times you know what? I do believe that we as a country might win a war or two.

Oh yea just a heads up. Letting someone know that there is an enemy behind them is not considered rude or bad protocol. In fact it’s looked on as a sign of concern for your fellow countryman. In my squad and the few that I have flown with I do believe it’s called a “CHECK 6”. People say this to warn of the pending confrontation between you and the Bad guys. Chances are you have your mind fixated on something else rather than paying attention to what is going on around you. In this case your rear.

Since I’m on a roll I might as well bring this up. I noticed that early in the day we were in 2nd place with lets say 25 bases. The Knights had 35 bases and the Bishops have 14. At a close look of the whole map I noticed that the main bulk of the Rooks were working on Bishops and were letting the Knights take more and more bases. Is it just me or is this just plain absurd? What is it with line of thinking? Do you really think that you guys can beat down the Knights before the Bishops take over the rest of the map? Think about it people. The Bishops are beating us like a red-headed step child. However we are so engrossed in our little battle that no one has taken the time to look around the map and see we are losing more bases then we are getting.

A little commutation within the country would seem appropriate. For god’s sake use you head for something. If you can’t see what I'm saying is true why you don’t go over to one of the other countries and do you stupid crap there. At least you would get the perk points of the winning country. That’s a plus for a lot of you since all you think about is yourself and your bloody score.
Now if you’re angry because I have said what is on my mind and you want me to say I’m sorry or something, I got news for you. It’s not going to happen. So don’t hold your breath. All I'm suggesting is fly smarter and talk to people. Let people know in the country what is going on. If you think you can help out great but look around and make sure it’s in the best interest of the war effort. Other wise what’s the point

Obviously the point is to engage in some air to air combat with those of a like minded persuasion, set ones hair on fire and have a blast.

My war comprises of what I see out of my cockpit. My war is where my opponent does his best to blow me out of the sky. You might call it my little local war.

Oh..and I want that war to be quite intense. I want it to push the envelope.

Your war effort has nothing to due with that, and in many cases hinders me from what I strive to do in my short timeframe.

That answer your question ??

Well, we can see who logged early.  Rooks held the knits off of the mainland, and pushed them back in the center of the map.
Bishes never made much headway on us either.
FlyingDutchman made a brilliant LVT sneek at 159, me and one other gunner dropped the town before the battlegroup was lost.

And 165 was contested most of the night by a nearby Knit base, and two knit cv's, which were eventually destroyed.  The Rooks held it and started pushing north.

I don't remember which base it was, but a knit swarm almost had it, goons were close, and the field for the most part was capped. And the rooks rallied and saved it.  People were upping, not worrying about getting vulched, but to get numbers in the air to save the base.

Last night was some of the most fun I've had in this game in awhile.  The Rooks were flying and working like the Rooks of old

I spy anouther arm-chair general ...

instead of trying to control all of Rookland , how about you getting a squad together and make your own push to conquer the Bishnits.

Btw Have you heard of the RJO ???

Who cares about winning the war? I lost interest in that years ago before I eventually lost interesting in the MA all together. The hordes move from one vulch to another taking bases and the map gets reset to one we've all seen before 1000's times.

By the end all I was looking for was taking up a plane that wasn't very common to see let alone get in a fight with one well away from the hordes and give someone a change and hopefully a good fight or two. Never cared if I landed it or not. On occasion I'd do my best to defend something of actual importance like the HQ.

The whole war and strat thing dosn't really exist in any true or tactical sense since there are no "real" tactical or strategic targets.

The war is about as interesting as gaming the game for score. Rinse twice and repeat.

Hey GS.

Nope, just me. A couple of others stayed also, but changed their cpids.
I've got 1800 fighter perks, so I'm going to hang onto JB66.  Not that I'll ever use them.
