I think you're mixing up Vietnam and Korea there. The Vietnam War was in no way a UN action (you think Russia and China would have voted for that?).

No. NATO had nothing to do with the Vietnam War or the Korean War. NATO's first military action was in Bosnia assisting the UN with warplanes.
