Cancer
« on: November 07, 2004, 12:06:26 AM »
I was so disappointed after hearing Cobra412 & Morpheus talk on Channel 200 about the Edwards' announcement of breast cancer, I simply HAD to log off this evening.  These two people actually had the nerve to imply that the cancer was a ploy to make-up for a failed political matter.

I think most of us know that cancer - in many of its forms - is a very serious illness.  Cancer can be a very painful way to die.  Cancer is NOT a political action.

I've been a casual fan of Channel 200 (I'm usually tuned to it) in order to hear what the community is talking about.  But, we - as a community - really could do a better job of enforcing certain social checks & balances on Channel 200 in order to keep the damn channel respectable.

After receiving support from others that were on the Channel, I asked Cobra & Morpheus for an apology & a change of subject.
Morpheus told me to "suck a d!ck."  Very classy, Morpheus.     You're a PERFECT example of what is going WRONG with this community.

And, Cobra...man, I've had a great deal of respect for you because of your skins & our past duels.  But, tonight... :(

Please, people...think about what you're saying on a GAME CHANNEL before you type, huh?!?   :)

Regardless of the content, I dont think channel 200 needs to be regulated.  As far as I'm concerned, 200 is just another numbered 'private' channel (just a different color)... meaning it's not mandatory - no on is forced to listen to 200 - if you want to participate, you voluntarily tune to this channel.  Thats the risk you take.

IMO logging was a tad dramatic.  Tune somewhere else :)

Yup I did and I'd tell you the same thing again if you told me to appoligize for a conversation I didnt start nor had anything to do with.

I simply said that you were misunderstanding what exactly cobra was saying. You interpreted that as me going along with something he was saying. I knew what Cobra was saying and I knew what you were saying. Your one track mind wouldnt allow you to grasp the indeapth concept of not taking sides in a conversation.

THESE TWO PEOPLE?

Comon terdbolt. I never agreed with anything anyone was saying. Not you nor cobra. And cobra wasnt making light of the topic of cancer either. You brought me into the whole damn thing when I tried to tell you that Cobra wasnt joking around about Cancer in particular. Infact he wasnt joking around about anything. You made that insinuation and stuck to it. For that you were wrong. And I told you so. You didnt like to be told you were wrong when you were. So you go and attempt to turn your childish bullchit towards me. The simple fact that I knew what cobra was saying and you didnt doesnt mean I was agreeing with him. And it doesnt mean I was saying he was right for speaking of what he was. I dont know how that can be so difficult for  you to grasp.

What? you want me to appligize for the suk it part? not going to happen. I dont know who you think you are. But your not going to start telling me what you think I should do.

This Im tellilng daddy bullchit on the BB is more childish than the punk display of BS you orchestrated on line tonight. You talk about respect when you have none for yourself. If you did you would have handled yourself much differently tonight. Rather you looked like a complete idiot crying and whining about something you had no idea of. And im not talking about cancer itself.

You come in mid conversation and attempt to moderate? Screw off.

You turn some thing one person said that meant nothing and turn it into some massive one line dispute. Or atleast attempted to. And didnt like that fact that I told you to go screw. Like I said, I'll tell you the same thing again if you try and pull your moderator crap with me.

I saw exactly what was meant, Morpheus.

Spin it however you want.

If I brought you into this, it's because your "suck a d!ck" comment was a great example of the low-class comments that cheapen the community...one word at a time.  Besides, your reputation preceeded you.

TBolt you can be pissed all you want.  Frankly in my opinion whether you like it or not.  I'm sick of hearing about all these big shots and their problems when their are so many just like them.  Yeah it did seem rather ironic that right after they lose this comes out.

Simple fact is Mrs. Edwards is no different than any other person who has been diagnosed with this disease.  Why is it just because they are well known that it's "breaking news" when they develope cancer?  What about all the children out their stricken with the same disease?  What about the regular folks like you and I that may have this disease?

It'd be nice if just once this country would spend the time and money on what it really needs to and not spreading the gossip about some celebrity.  Just how much money and time was spent on making all these news casts about her problems?  I guess in some peoples minds they'd rather hear about the problem than actually do something to help the problem.  Spend the money on the news about it instead of spend it on an agency that's trying to cure it.

I won't lie it does seem rather suspicious that right after the election this comes out.  In no way shape or form was I making a joke about cancer though.  My grandfather died because of it and I probably will too.  It's pathetic that we as a society make such a big deal about celebrities and their problems instead of spending that same time and effort to help others especially when it comes to diseases like this.  Frankly I could give a crap about her being diagnosed with cancer when we all know their are millions out their diagnosed with the same thing.  Just because she's a celebrity though it's "breaking news".  She must mean more to our nation than those 3 and 4 year old children dying from the same thing.

Guess that shows what alot of the people in our society really gives a watermelon about.

Cobra,
I completely understand what you're trying to say here.  I do.  I'm not one to make a big deal about celebrities, either.  Just ask my friends.

Bottom line, though, is that WE'RE TALKING ABOUT CANCER here!  I've lost 3 family members to it!!!  And, I log into AH and hear how cancer is used as a "sob story" ploy to make up for a political matter?!?  Very offensive & way out of line.

The woman has breast cancer.  It's a painful, often deadly, disease.  No politics involved.

My point in posting this thread was to stress that people would do well to really think twice before saying something on an open channel - a GAME CHANNEL of all things.  And, comments like Morpheus' are best left in the boy's high school locker room, too.

Maybe the cancer was covered up before the election so they would not be accused of using it to garner votes.
As the wife of a VP candidate her problem would be of interest to at least 53 million people.
It is a sad situation no matter who or what age person it affects.

I am a Bush voter.

Quite well said... for a Bush voter ;)

As a matter of fact I myself had cancer when I was seventeen (33 now). They had to take away one my testicles. No that's not funny, it's really true. Also lost an aunt to leukaemia the same week I heard I had cancer.

I am sterile because of radiation therapy and my guts still don't work that well because of it.

Let's say that what I've heard so far does not really amuse me. If you are going to have NO respect for people with this disease, no matter how much you dislike them or their political ideas, please do it somewhere else.

Translation: Someone recently totaly SMOKED Morph`s little snotrod in a bright pink Hyundai in front of the prom queen. :D

BTW gentlemen , stand against the wall and prepare for lockdown.

Channel 200 is an option you can choose to participate in or not, but IMHO  the game would be pretty boring without being tuned in. Guys just need to keep in mind that not all of us are old salts. There is quite a few, ......... no a lot of younguns in the game now. Act accordingly.
The complaint should have been sent to HT. Were just adding fuel to the fire here. Myself included.
A lot of what has been on channel 200 in the last few weeks would be better served in the O`club and left out of the game.

If when you say, "in to this" you mean this forum then fine. I can understand your running to daddy.

If when you say, "in to this" you mean last night on line, and the conflict you had. That was the last thing I said to you and you said to me. And if it makes you feel any better I was told, "Morph language Please" by the mod. Understandable...

You on the other hand are just a whinning bellybutton little baby.

I wont even begin to go through the list of family members I have that have either died of cancer or most likely will die. Why? Because I dont need anyones sympathy on this board. Not saying the fact that you do is bad, but thats not how I get by. I am very simpathetic to the subject and wasnt making "light" of the topic last night either. If you think so, well you know what you can do.

As far as my reputation. LOL Please if this was a popularity contest, I wouldnt have stayed past my free two weeks. Like it or not, I was right in saying what I said to you about what Cobra was trying to say. Like it or not I wasn't taking sides with you or Cobra. And like it or not I'd tell you to go suck it again if you told me to appoligize for something I had nothing to do with and never started in the first place.

EDIT: And btw, T... Your just as wrong right now for bringing this issue to a public forum. But I guess in a way I'm glad you did. You need to be told where to go and how. Not for the way you fly or play but for the way you acted last night.
