Salute to the Ace of WW2
« on: November 12, 2004, 11:33:08 PM »

Another of WW2 airmen has passed away...
Stanislaw Skalski was one of the finest fighter pilots of this war and is classified as no.1 in Polish WW2 aces list. He flew from the first hours of Polish campaign where he became the first allied ace of WW2, fought in battle of Britain and North African campaign then led several Polish and British fighter units to combat over skies of occupied Europe. His final score stands for 21 confirmed kills, 2 propables and 5 damaged.
Great, humble man and magnificent pilot.

All those guys were tough Mothers.  They all deserve our respect and admiration, no matter what plane they flew.

RIP, and thank you for the Great generation.

Too bad to hear this.  Piotr I still have to show you the video with he and Urbanowicz and others.  Let's meet soon OK?
Also I have a print of a painting of "Skalski's Circus" that was autographed by Skalski, I need to get it framed.

I do have  question though, how did the Polish pilots get to England after Poland fell? What was the most common way? And how many made it?
