People like us NEED welfare. If we didn't have welfare, I wouldn't even be here. I wouldn't be in this house, we wouldn't have a car, and we definately wouldn't have money for food. My dad would've been dead, too.

I, as well as others, are not the lazy-ass people you think we are. Working would be great, but as I said... We'd be screwed if we did.

Oh, and I'd like to mention that we did "try to take action". My dad started selling insurance again about two years ago, but he got *really* sick from moving all over the place, and just couldn't continue. The government knew about it, and they reduced our food stamps from $350 a month to the $245 we get now. And let me tell you... $350 wasn't even enough to really get by the month.

Yes, there are people who cheat to get welfare --- but most of us really do need it, and don't have many ways of getting out of the situations we're in.

You mean "not all of us are bad".

The ones where I live are horrible, and many of them are racist. My best friend's mom is a hard-line Catholic conservative, and she's openly voiced her opinions on people of other colors.

And, you see that most of us aren't bad, either. We all have a lot in common, but our representatives just can't get that through their heads.

Ya know.... I pay the 6 months to kids on this side of the border. You pay them to kids on that side.

And.... I don't really have a problem with that. In fact, if I knew that it turned out that my portion of the tax dollars went specifically so this kid could get away from a sort of grim reality that I didn't have to face, and instead enable him to walk into the next room, fire up a stang and forget about it for a few hours, it'd put a great big arsed smile on my face.

Gawdammit... the *****ing.....

The whole taxes thing, the welfare thing... the people who complain and complain. How does that saying go? Something like (and imagine a John Wayne voice) "We don't wanna give hand outs, we wanna give them a leg up".... or some retarded thing like that.

But, just what does that mean? What is this "leg up" that you speak of? Give me an example of "leg up". What does it look like? And when was the last time you righteous folk even lifted one of these so-called legs yer own self. Not through taxes, because they're evil and lets pretend that they don't exist for a second.

No, I mean... When was the last time you wandered into the jungle and lifted a leg? How'd you make that happen? What did it look like?

It's the old saying Nash, give a man a fish and you feed him for a day, teach a man to fish and you feed him for a lifetime.

In America Nash many many people on welfare *could* work, they are perfectly capable of working. (Not talking about Fruda's situation here). They either dont want to work or dont have any job skills to speak of. Teach them to fish.

Another one of them sayings that doesn't mean squat in the real world except that it sounds good and somehow should make sense but sadly doesn't translate.

So you agree that there are folks deserving of welfare, and folks that cheat it.

That's great... now instead of saying little poems, tell me how ya solve the problem of not yanking welfare from the deserving due to trying to yank it from the cheaters.

Oh wait a sec... That's already an issue, state to state. Thousands of people are trying to figure this one out as we speak. Poems don't help.

It's not a poem Nash, and there is no easy answer. You are correct people are trying to figure out how to yank the welfare rug from those that dont need it while making sure the people  who DO need it still get it.
