Jeesh - I go away for a few days and my buddy comes onto the Bulletin Board like a bomb blast. He definitely is not known for subtle entrances that’s for sure. It would certainly be rude of me if I didn’t give him the proper introduction.
Cavy is a graduate of the United States Marine Corp. After that he became a Police Officer for the same department that I work for. He has 7 years seniority on me. He is probably one of the best if not the best Police Officer that is employed by my department. His certifications and credentials are numerous. In addition to his regular patrol duties he is one of our lead Training Instructors. He is certified to teach several topics including Defensive Tactics, Field Force Mobilization, Accident Investigation, and M26 Advanced Taser. He is also actively involved in PBA as he represents our department as a delegate in the local Police Conference.
He was my Field Training Officer when I graduated from the Police Academy. Later on in my career he was my partner in what our department called CRU (Community Response Unit). It was an 8-man team assigned to the Chief of Police that targeted quality of life crimes. The majority of the work we did involved narcotics. CAVY and I were the bulls in the china shop. We rode together for probably over 2 years until our Sgt. would not let us ride together anymore because we caused too much trouble together (Plus Sgt. didn’t like our politics – etc. and we still call him Sgt. White Trash to this date). To summarize – even though I have a cushy job in the department right now and I am a team leader on our tactical team, the best times I had as a cop were when I rode with CAVY.
He was the one that got me hooked on Rush Limbaugh and Sean Hannity. CAVY always seemed to know what was going on around him whether if it was about drug investigation in a bad neighborhood, local politics, foreign affairs, or major league politic scoop. I have never seen him conduct himself in an unprofessional manner. I’ve seen cops shy away from riots or situations where we “Might get our teeth kicked in.” CAVY shoves those cops aside and neutralizes the problem, surprisingly by his quick tongue and not his fists. He truly epitomizes the spirit of the Law Enforcement Officer in our country. When he retires it will be a sad day because the new breed of Officer (Generation X Cop) is more like a robotic drone who think they know it all and lack some serious decision making skills.
He is no Mr. Black, He is not VOSS, etc. He’s the one and only CAVY. I have been privileged to know him for 12 years – now you can too.
