How many of you vets are married out there?  Errr...how many of you vets are happily  married out there?  Got a question for you...

How do you explain to your wife that talking to other men online while she is asleep isn't "sketchy"? :lol

LOL.  My wife came stomping out of the bedroom tonight as I was talking to a squaddie.  Stood there with a "who the f*** are you talking too" look on her face.  I type "afk", put plane on auto climb and try to explain myself to no avail.  :rofl

Help me fellas!

Dood, just open another account, have her wing or gun your bomber.

My absolutely adorable wife will bring me dinner, or snacks, or drinks while I fly.

Does no good if they dont understand how an online community can be just as real and important as the guys you go hunting with or watch the game with on Monday Night Football.  I lost one to Air Warrior so dont look at me.  :)  I just got lucky this time, my current ball and chain likes online games almost as much as I do.

Just make sure the honeydo list is done and that when she talks to you that she isn't talking to the side of your head while you are looking at the screen.

This last one is vital :)

Not married yet but my gf (kinda like a wife) understands my love for "those silly flying games that all look alike".

I told her theres a difference.

Of course the trade off is that I have to watch her shows with her and every now and then do nice things. Thats the tip, balance it out and explain to her its a hobby.

Then when shes asleep get her out of the coutnry ASAP.

What He said and One Other thing.

When you wife is sitting there on the couch or bed with "Come give it to me big-boy" eyes and Ask "why don'y you come over here?" Just do it! DO NOT answer with "But honey Iam on Shane's six i'm gunna shoot him down" SHE WILL NEVER EVER UNDERSTAND!

LOL, how do you think I got involved in this?  If you can't beat 'em - join 'em!  ;)  (I started out with the intention of only gunning bombers or driving GVs!  Over 6 years ago in AW.... :D)

It took my wife 2 or 3 years to really understand. Until she did she always resented the time that "She" got. (my computer)

It wasn't until squad members started calling on the phone, asking how I was doing etc that she realised. She'd married into an extended family, a big one, and the computer was how we stayed in touch & talked to each other.

You do need to balance it, keep the honey do list cleaned up. Be willing to alt F4 if needed.

But "Good" wifes will eventually understand. Yes we are all qeeks, nerds & dweebs. Most of us have online friends that are closer to us than our real family. Anyone that has flown AH for a year knows more about me than most of my family ever did or will.

He's a brother, a close cousin, an uncle, and if he's in my squad he can have the shirt off my back.

Last westy nailed it.
You can spend 40$ a night in a bar EASY. At least this way my wife KNOWS where I'm at and if she needs me I'm right there. You just have to show her WHO it is your hanging with.

Show her the squadron, how tight you are with these guys. How laid back & easy to live with you are if you get your "Fix" regularlly, and how Pi$$y you are when you don't.
