New gunsight please?
« on: November 28, 2004, 05:51:43 PM »
I remembered AERO talked about some things of the Aces High's gunsight.
IIRC currently AH's gunsight is using the Alpha-Blending. This technic has a limitation if he wants to make gunsights more realistic.

He said the gunsight would look nice and realistic if HTC uses additive mixing (additive color mixture?) technic for it.
For example, WW2OL's gunsight is simulated by it.

HiTech and Pyro, what do you think about this idea?
Please try to get more realistic illumination gunsight...

Thanks.

Have my vote :)

I'd also like the gunsight's size relative to your head position to remain constant.  As you move your head forward or away, the size changes, making it difficult to determine range like pilots did in WWII (range in terms of comparing the size of an aircraft, usually wingspan, to the diameter of the gunsight).

I would like it if the historical gunsights were installed in AH by default.

I find Aero's gunsights more than adequate, but if they can be made more realistic, I am all for that, too!

I wish LCOS gunsights were in the game for those aircraft that had them. These were a technical advantage as important as getting engine performance correct. Even later B-17 waist guns had reflector sights with compensation for aircraft speed and altitude.

I know gamers down't really care, they prefer a single dot or no sight at all. Their preferences are already accounted for, why not hook up simmers with what they like too?

From the top...

1) Original Gunsight.
2) Background.
3) Additive synthesis (additive blend) tech (The new technique which AERO says)
4) Alpha-blending (semi-transparent?) tech (current AH gunsight)

sullie, I'm not talking about historical gunsights.
We want to see more realistic illiminated gunsights in Aces High 2.

I'm trying to explain now.
