MNF: Cowboys/Seahawks

The heart and soul of the Seahawks defense have only been around for 2 full games this season, with all 3 starting LB's.  We're left with deep bench for Linebackers.  I predicted 11-5 on the last week of pre-season and they started 3-0 with the best defense in the NFL after 3 weeks, then the injuries started, first Wistrom, then Brown, then Simmons, then DD Lewis... 3 of 4 were Pro-bowlers. We have Wistrom back but we're still missing Chad Brown, Anthony Simmons, D.D. Lewis.  At one point in the season we were without 7 starters out of 11 on defense.  Time to hiring a new conditioning coach.

Without a good defense, you have to have Elway's arm and good wide receivers to have even a chance at a winning season, which we don't.

Shall we talk about the NFL's team who leads with dropped passes? Seahawks. Lets hire a new WR coach too, when we can Holmgren.

We suck. Again.  Destined to be an underdog. They will win the superbowl the year after I'm dead and buried, garanteed!

Randy White , Bob Lilly , Ed "To Tall" Jones . Hollywood Henderson , Leroy Jordon , Chrlie Waters , Cliff Harris , Benny Barnes , Tony Dorsett , Preston Pearson , Drew Person , Robert Newhouse , Danny White , Roger Staubach , Golden Richards , Tony Hill , Butch Johnson , Billy Jo Dupree , Jethro Pugh , Bob Bruenig , Everson Walls , Mel Renfro..............

Just to name a few from the golden great years of the Cowboys. When each Sunday you were actually excited to watch em. My dad and I would sit in front of the TV and he'd call the penalties before they would say em. I thought "Now how did he see that?" Now I know.

It was a time when the Cowboys were really Americas Team. Everyone wanted to beat em. Everyone liked them. They seemed Tough and Rumble regular guys that played a kids game. I remember it well. Wearing the lil football uniform with the pads and helmet. Playing with the buds in the biggest yard.

Great times as a kid.

Jerry Jones becomes the new owner and the Cowboys took on a whole new light. Party and cocky. Coke and Women. They had a great Coach in Jimmy Johnson but they had no heart. The early Cowboys always played with heart in those days. Most teams did really but the Cowboys were my team then.

They are my team now. But with a different sense. If I'd miss a game in the old days it was a dang good reason. Missing a game now means nothing really.

I miss the old days when players , in most sports , played for the game. The money came but the love never left. In the NFL there isnt a handful that play for the liove of the game anymore.

Shame to......It really is the greatest game of the big 3.

And in one flail swoop, one wide receiver turned "America's Team" into the opitomy of NFL football. Can you name him?

Yeah it is. Throw in Barry Switzer. Sad that it only took 3 or 4 bad apples to undo what was for YEARS a great tradition in sports.

In all fairness, Hollywood Henderson was traded overnight after getting busted for coke. One of the kickers, I forget who, possibly either Rafeal Septien or Efram Herrara, was busted for statutory rape, and traded as fast as Hollywood Henderson.

You left out a couple of my favorites. Billy Bates (walk on from UT, I'm from Tennessee and can't stand the UT Vols) possibly the hardest hitting defensive back around. Dandy Don Meredith, a party animal as well, no doubt, but played no matter what, broken ribs, and even pneumonia (in a game where the temp was -12 or worse, not to mention wet).

I thought his best talent was that he also punted, this forced every team that played them to game plan for that situation, thus taking time away from other game planning and changing how the opposing team set up their punt return and who was on it. I mean, every 4th and less than 5 around midfield was a possible fake if you were the opposing head coach.

I was lucky to have met Randy White back in 1980 I think it was.
He bought a Harley where I worked .
he was a really great guy.
The in 1989 I met him again at a bar I was working at ( bouncer)
It was funny but he rememeberd me from back in 1980.
LOL I told him if he was going to get rowdy let me know and I would go on my break .

Oh, it was big news here when he was convicted.  However, mainstream, drug busts among pro-athletes is so common place in this culture we've sewn that its not big news anymore unless your name is Barry.
