1) Can anyone tell me the months the Normandie Regiment operated along the Niemen River between KAUEN (Kaunas) and the MEMEL/CRANZ area?

2) Did they fly Yak-9's there too or only go there after tx to Yak-3?

This question was asked by IAN for his new 'kurland map' for IL2/FB/AEP.

The map is large moving south almost to Konigsberg. They are gathering info to make various campaigns.

TIA

I would not question this site..........

It shows them transffering to Vilnius 3 days after it fell. They were following the front very closely

I must admit I always thought they recieved their Yak3's a little earlier than August 12th.

The 18GIAP (a sort of sister regiment) recieved theirs much earlier.

However their Battles North of the Niemen toward Memel were certainly in October as the Niemen was taken  West of Kaunus and were certainly in Yak 3's at that time.
