Scenario Attendance Numbers
« on: December 07, 2004, 12:04:46 PM »
Can anyone give me a general idea of how many people attend an average frame?

I'm not talking about registered attendees, I'm, asking about actual attendance.  I suppose the numbers vary depending on the format of the scenario, but hopefully I can get a grip on the range.

Thanks in advance. :)

I think we were under 100 for Frame 3. I think Frame 1 we were around 150.

Pretty sad, really, given the numbers we used to get in WB.

I think a average ETO scenario would stay at 200, and a Pacific sligter lower maybe 130-120.
LW - RAF setup always gives strongest attendance.

U can check out the actual numbers for the last scenarios at Gremlins log site click scenarios and then "display squad stats".

Thanks for the numbers.  Pretty much what I expected to here, since the scenarios I've flown in AH tend to be somewhat less attended.

I think we'll get there someday.  :)   ...  :lol Always the optimist.

I'll have to go with the Pacific numbers and plan accordingly, but actually, I wan't too far off base.

Thanks again.

Pacific events - especially early war - are poorly attended. If I had done late-war - with nothing but Ki-84's and N1K's - it'd get a lot more people. But it'd also just be a reduced version of the MA with those planes. I wanted to do something very different from the MA.

ETO is usually most popular - either Battle of Britain time frame or 1944 or later. Russian Front is about middle of the road, but these events usually turn out to be great fun. Especially when the Russians are on the offensive and you get that Red Horde down at 5000 feet.

Yup, been there done that.  Made the map for Tilt the first time we did Niemen.  Twas a blast, and I totally agree, Dok, with your assessment of the Pacific Early war issues.

Unfortunately,  or maybe not  ;) , that happens to be my particular area of interest.   I've enjoyed Rangoon42,  I've read God is my Co-pilot twice,    and I enjoyed Midway.  My first ever scenario was AW Pearl Harbor......   hmmmm

Now, I'm USN ret.  So you might guess where I'm going with this.  Planning for a small turnout.  The unveiling will be in January :D

The funny thing is that the Zero's (even the M2) have really done well in Rangoon. Losses of Allied fighters have been pretty steep. In looking at the guncams folks have sent me, a lot of these kills are done at speed - not flap-hanging stall-fights like you'd expect (amazing how putting players into realistic combat situations will affect tactics, huh?).

If I am ever lose grip of my sanity enough to put myself through this again, I will likely do a Russian Front event. I'll wait til we get a P-39 before I make a decision. :lol

:lol   To my knowledge, this particular venue has not been done in the history of AW or AH.  At least this approach hasn't.  Don't know about WB.

Officially, though, it doesn't exist.  First I have to finish it then I have to get it accepted.

I belive Midway was done by Jordi right after AH Niemen and the attendance was a record for events to that time.
Easy in-game again.

I'm looking forward to a Midway style event, complete with storm clouds and moveable carrier groups.

Carriers yes.  (hint)

Storm Clouds? We'll  there was an anomally in the weather that factored into the historical battle.  A cold front passed through with cloud cover.  (hint)

Now, if I can only get Tilt or someone on the senario CM team to contact me, I can submit the draft to them and see what they think  :)

Y'all might try to get an anouncement on the MA MOTD when registration opens for an event - and include a simple URL to the event description if possible.  I suspect there are a lot of folks who would come and enjoy them that just don't visit the web site regularly.

More targets'd is a good thing. ;)

First number is players in first frame. Second number is players in last frame of event.

298 / 303 = +02% Battle of Britain (Aug. 2002)
338 / 256 = -24% Midway (Nov. 2002)
302 / 248 = -18% Niemen (Feb. 2003)
237 / 187 = -21% Guadacanal (Apr. 2003)
187 / 143 = -24% Iceberg (Aug. 2003)
113 / 085 = -25% Kadesh (Nov. 2003)
258 / 188 = -27% Ruhr (Feb. 2004)
137 / 094 = -31% Kurland (May 2004)
225 / 198 = -12% Battle of Britain (Aug. 2004)
130 / 107 = -18%  Rangoon 42  (Nov./Dec. 2004)
