Axis Orders
Primary: Attack V102 and V103
Secondary: Defend A39
The Luftwaffe had the Allies on a defensive footing but were unable to capitalize on the advantage. Reacting quickly to the loss of A40 Allied commanders effectively defended the Commonwealth landing beaches. While the Luftwaffe did inflict heavy damage, it was not enough to stem the tide of men and material pouring into Normandy.
Meanwhile additional Allied forces caused severe damage to A39, and while there was not enough damage to force the fields closure it was sufficient to cause a repositioning of Luftwaffe forces.
Allied victory on points.
Allied victory on tactical results.
Final Analysis
The Luftwaffe were unable to repeat their stunning surprise attack and while they inflicted heavy losses the Allied forces, with their superior industrial capacity behind them, have once again turned the tide of battle. Rommel's predictions are coming to pass, and the Luftwaffe now finds itself trying to contain the advancing allied forces. Bradley's forces will be probing north to LeHavre once again, and it is up to the Luftwaffe to hold him back.
