Want your own FW?
« on: December 09, 2004, 03:53:33 PM »
Maybe this has been posted before, as this company has been in business for 8 years.  I was browsing info on people who restore warbirds and came to this site..........then I read their section on the FW 190 A-8.  They build kits!!  No guns of course, but DAYUM!

Whats the Euro to Dollar conversion there?

Actually it's 1.00 EUR = 1,32871 USD or 1 USD = 0,752750 EUR. ;) (from The Universal Currency Converter)

But yes, those Flugwerke kits are awesome! :)

Do you say this from reading the article, or because you know someone who has one or have seen one?  I'd just about commit illegal acts to buy something like that, I'm really curious how it performs.  It says they also did a conversion kit that allowed a guy in Texas to retrofit one of their engines into an original FW.  I'd be curious to know if their engine design is as good as/better than/worse than the original.

No, I haven't seen one and haven't even read that much about them. Just what they tell on the Flugwerke website...

I am selling a pair Focke Wulf P-149D's.  Real fun airplanes, one has a 450+HP Motor (Hasn't been dyno'd but its better than 450)

Both Camoflauge, one is Blue/White/Gray the other Green camo with yellow accents.

$210,000 for blue one, $150,000 for the green.  Bunch of pictures are posted on the BBs somewhere...here's one of the green with a Squaddie posing in front.

And one of the Blue one.

GScholz

Both made in Germany, 1960.  Luftwaffe Trainers.  They both have 'the book' detailing history, restoration and unique tidbits for each airplane.  The blue one won 'Judges Choice' at Oshkosh and Sun 'n Fun.

No issues, I enjoyed flying them and the owner enjoys owning them.  I've just been commissioned to sell em so he can make space in his home-hangar for a P-51.

Now i know how I'll paint my car.

Actually there was a guy who painted his car as a Brewster in Finland. When he went abroad it caused an outrage as it had the blue svastikas.:)

Well ... first, those trainers are NOT Focke-Wulfs. Second, if you insist on calling them FWs I am going to wee wee all over you.

What connection does someone from Norway have with German aircraft that would make one so defensive of the name Focke Wulf?

Ah, grasshopper but they ARE Focke-Wulf's.  Parts are made by Piaggio, parts by BMW and FW.  It doesn't need to be a 190 to be a Focke Wulf, it's a FW P-149D.  Focke Wolf, Piaggio 149-D.

I'm curious what the heck you think they are...I'm at a loss.

Here's a cut from the FAA's aircraft registration website link on the blue one.  Type certificate info, ect ect ect.
