Liberals and war
« on: December 10, 2004, 12:08:27 AM »
Where would America be without liberals to fight our battles? We'd probably be speaking Vietnamese right now if we had to depend on conservatives.

Shall we look at the facts? Or will that scare you neocons?

Liberals:
George McGovern -- DFC
JFK -- Just a plain old war hero-- US Navy
Gen. Wesley Clark -- US Army
Gray Davis -- Bronze Star Vietnam
Fritz Hollings -- Bronze Star WWII
Sen Jack Reed -- Ranger
Tom Harkin -- US Navy
Ted Kennedy -- US Army
Max Cleland -- Silver and Bronze Star Vietnam
Charles Rangel -- Bronze Star Korea
John Kerry -- Silver and Bronze Star
Bob Kerrey -- Medal of Honor
Al Gore -- US Army Vietnam
Tom Daschle -- USAF
I'll stop the list here. I can post more if you'd like.

Conservatives:
George W. Bush -- AWOL in time of war
Dick Cheney -- draft dodger
Karl Rove -- draft dodger
Donald Rumsfeld -- US Navy
Paul Wolfowitz -- draft dodger
Bill Bennet -- draft dodger
Newt Gingrich -- draft dodger
Sean Hannity -- draft dodger
Rushbo -- draft dodger
Michael Savage -- draft dodger
Michael Reagan -- draft dodger
Richard Perle -- draft dodger
Jeb Bush -- draft dodger
Bob Dornan -- draft dodger
Saxby Chambliss -- draft dodger
Tom DeLay -- draft dodger
Dennis Hastert -- draft dodger
Trent Lott -- draft dodger
Phil Gramm -- draft dodger
Chuck Hagel -- Bronze Star, Purple Heart
Duke Cunningham -- Navy Cross
to two good Republicans

You conservatives talk a good game, but when it is on the line for America, it's the liberals that respond.

I would just like to point out that it was liberals who caused us to lose Vietnam.  But greentail wants to have some fun, so I'll let him.

In what way? For example, exactly in what way was George McGovern wrong on Vietnam?

Wow, you feel you F'in proud that JFK is on your stupid list for the "Liberals"?!

I see your JFK and raise you Ronald Reagan (Army), Gerald Ford (Navy), Ike (Army) and George Herbert Walker Bush (Navy).  I'm tired or I'd post more.

In what way was Nixon wrong about Vietnam? He brought the troops home.

Funny you would chose to bring up Vietnam in your argument, since it was the Democrats that got us into that war.

Excellent point. Well said, dittohead.

I must admit, I forgot a couple of Republicans.

Dwight Eisenhower, Bob Dole, both good old fashioned conservatives. True conseratives, unlike the corporate brainwashed neocons of today.

And George H.W. Bush served his country well in the South Pacific.

As did Gus Hall. Four years in the US Navy in WWII. How emabarrasing! The US's top Commie has a better service record than the entire present day administration combined!!!

Answer that "conservatives"!

Ronald Reagan made movies. That's a far cry from McGovern's DFC, don't you think?.

Even with Ike and Ford, and Bush you're still behind. Besides, as pointed out in another post, they were old school consevatives, who backed America, not shills for the multi-nationals.

Greentail, more power to you on your list....but it's  funny.

You list a lot of "draft dodgers" yet fail to mention Clinton?

What about Michael Savage? He's not even a conservative.

How old is Sean Hannity and what draft did he dodge?

Carry on.

Nixon was not wrong about Vietnam. He just took too long to get the troops home.

Do you remember the '72 campaign. McGovern wanted to bring the troops home immediately. Nixon said it couldn't be done. After the election, however, he did just that.

And yes, the Democrats got us into that mess. No doubt. But that is sort of the point. The so-called "conservatives" are always trash talking the Dems on defense. The facts speak against that. But then, facts don't seem important anymore to most folks.

How? Enlighten me?

I'm not going to let you guys get away with just calling names. You will have to actually make some sort of coherent argument.

Good luck!

Why don't you take your own advice and edit your list then? Seems like facts didn't matter to you very much when you posted the list.

Savage is not conservative? Actually, I don't think he is, but that is how he is IDed.

Hannity dodged Vietnam, I bleive.

As for Clinton, I think we must make a distinction here.

Clinton was a draft evader, yes. But he was actively against the war.

The Republicans on this list were all for the war, as long as it was someone else's butt doing the fighting.

There is a difference.
