I recall,
When I was in Elementary School, (Mid Eighties) we would sing all types of Songs, From Spin the Driedel, to Silent Night.
Of course back then, There was no such thing as Kwanzza, Well there was, but Truthfully I dont recall hearing about Kwanzza till the Mid Nineties.
There STILL isnt any such thing as Kwanzza. Its a BOGUS holiday invented by a criminal radical militant.
I dont see any reason why ANYONE woud even want to align themselves with such a peice of garbage.
But back when I was in school we sang a bunch of different things also.
My 8 year old daughters school has what I think is the right idea.
Everyone is asked to bring something in and write something about what it is they celabrate, why and how.
This IMO is the right way to go. Instead of excluding religeon and christianity in particular which seems to be the primary target.
We should be celibrating our religeous diversity.
And Christmas is primarily about Christ it is for everyone.
I know Jews that put up Christmas lights not to celibrate the birth of Christ but simply because they look so darn pretty.
I know many people From india who while they dont celibrate Christ, they do keep the tradition of Santa. and gift giving
They think this is a GREAT idea and always say "merry christmas"
Interestingly enough I had several Muslims even wish me a Merry Christmas over the last few days
Funny thing is many of these people are more Christianlike then many Christians I know.
