Fair weather warriors....
« on: December 26, 2004, 01:08:19 PM »
Sigh,

Upped for a hop or two....noticed 114 was going under....got vulched in an FM-2 so launched F6F from CV on other side of island and headed back. Meanwhile a bunch of "fellow" niggits were attacking 100....someone commented 10+ knights over 100 10+ rooks over 114. Anyway called out CAP alt on my way into 114 and got back some noobish response from guys at 100. Instead of just letting it go made a comment back....got told to keep my mouth shut till I got my score up:rolleyes: ....

Of course 114 fell shortly afterward....as for the "hotshots" at 100....well the moment the rooks who took 114 started upping at 100 they dissappeared back under the rock they crawled out from under....

No wonder 3/4 of my squads playing world of warcraft now...least they can turn dip*****s like my "fellow" knights into frogs or something:)

Eh....  typical for the knit's.  Don't let it get ya' down.  SOMETIMES they pull together, and when they do it's great.

it's the Lil' Generals that spend 24/7 on here trying their heart out trying to maintain a score below 200 or 100 in the rank,  just rag em out, kidding :-)

ignore them, if it wasn't for their thought of them being a great Aces High commanding authority in the arena and ability to yank a cv from you and proceed to get it sunk or destroyed etc.....they would have nothing else great in their life to look forward to......

have fun flying your own way and if you feel like helping another out do it, if not don't sweat it............Humble, you will just will have to ignore the "You Didn't check my 6, when I was shooting that wingless plane you wounded down",  "kill the FH's not the VH you idiot", "I am vulching, don't tell me what to do, if you want ack dead you kill it" comments because they are the authoritive figures that know what is best :D
"When one considers just what they should say to a new pilot who is logging in Aces High, the mind becomes confused in the complex maze of info it is necessary for the new player to know. All of it is important; most of it vital; and all of it just too much for one brain to absorb in 1-2 lessons" TC

Turning into a frog can be a great thing humble.

I'd say, just keep doing what you are doing Humble, cooperation takes a lot of work, and when you do get something going as a team effort, be very thankful, and  don't worry if the outcome of the team effort doesn't go well, at least you managed to get a group of people who really don't know each other to work together.

Happy HOlidays.

This is an absolute GREAT way to figure out a lot of different things...  I fly different countries when the #s get low and um...  Well, some of the Knights low score boys leave something to be desired in "range of tactics"...  That's the same across the board though.

But yeah, Humble, those are your choices in the MA.  Either be part of the horde, or be overwhelmed by an enemy one 25 miles away.

I saw the same thing... 10+ guys attacking an undefended base and 10+ guys on the other team doing the same just one sector away.

Not sure if it is the map, the kids on vacation, or the gameplay itself slowing down into a game of checkers.

hmmm.... yesterday i upped at an undeffended, capped field, shot a mossie down while taking off, wheels down, shot two 110s and a goon, saw greebo get a 110, then chased another 110 away with greebo.

after that they didnt bother coming back.

i mean, did they want to fight for the base, or just capture one for the eventual goal of 20 free perks on reset?

kinda lost to me.

shamefull thing was they were knights, i had switched to bish for the day.

ah well, helps me look better in fighter kills tho... :P

Just to keep the record straight, those weren't rooks at 100/114 etc., those were  Bishops.

Humble, I know right where your coming from. Yesterday, We worked hard to capture a base from the cv. Once we captured it I along with 3 others proceeded to go onto the next base. After 5 minutes I look at the map and see 6 bish porking the strat close by and 10 others flying just off the cv waiting on low buffs.  So, having my fill of the non teamwork going on. I got on country channel and told bish to pull their heads out and quit being stupid. Naturally I was met with all kinds of sarcasism telling me how I was "king Bish" and " almighty and knowing". Like what was mentioned earlier I dunno if its because schools out or what, but maybe an arena should be set up for those who dont want to participate in team/country cohesion. Tactical play as some may put it. I know the same problems are on all sides and there is absolutely nothing that can be done.

humble ... thats too funny. I was the first to up 114 to defend it. I announced on country channel at least 3 times that it was under CV attack. I tried to hold them off for at least 10 minutes by myself, but the more I killed them, the more they launched so I finally just gave up.

I then looked at the map and there were a chitload of Knights not even a sector away attacking 100. Well they continued to attack 100 for what seemed hours, with no capture, and in the mean time, at least four more surrounding bases fell. Myself and a few others tried to stem the tide at these other bases, but again, to no avail as we were overcome by shear numbers.

It's funny to see how myopic some can get. Tons of resources on 100 trying to capture one base while all the other bases fall around it ... sometimes ya just got to cut your losses and re-focus.

Ya gotta love when someone pulls the "rank" thing ... truly shows who hasn't a clue.

ok... I was at 100.  I was outnumbered by bish but it was a good fite.

A good fite, get it?    I don't care about capturing anything... I care about a good fite.

You guys ***** and moan but it is you who are causing all this horde mentality... this capture at all costs.   capture at the cost of having good fites.

I don't hear anyone complaining when they are hording a base to capture it.   all these guys slapping each other on the back when one guy drops a bomb on a flak so that the other 10 can "cap" an undefended base.

bout the only good fites that develop are around the light bulb fragile CV's and they last about as long as some mouse weilder in a 3 pack of gunships can get up and drop bombs on em.

so long as the only way to capture a base is with 5 times the numbers then there will be the hordes and the horde mentality.   When 20 guys come in at 8-15k... are you gonna up to defend?  no... so what is left?   join a group of 20 guys that is hording an enemy base?   that is what you see... big bars of red or big bars of green... no fun to attack and no fun to defend.

So what are you left with?   well... if your side has the most numbers.... you get to "win" the war and the hawaiian vacation that HT gives for the effort.    You get5 to put off buying a decent computer and trading in your mouse for a joystick a little longer.   you get to kill a few toolsheds and circle around a lot.

Had you been on a hour earlier, you wouldn't have been able to see the base icon on the map due to it being completely covered in green. They did finally give up on it and that was probably just before you logged on.
