Don't know if it was the Voyager or the Pioneer satellites but on one of them they put in some recordings of some television shows and some Elvis songs.

WCBS had already been on the air for 5 years, but feel free to play up Hitler.

KDKA Pittsburgh traces it's official start back to 1920, brodcasting the Harding - Cox presidential race.  Unofficially, they started in 1916.

But this is much more important:

the 1936 Olympics marked the first live TV broadcast of a sports event.  Other broadcasts had obviously happened prior to that.

The power of these early broadcasts were extremely limited.

I am sure that the first video images received by ET will be of "I Love Lucy" They will decide that not only is intellegent life on Earth nonexistant, the primative life that exists there must be eradicated to save it from it's own misery.

Giving a diagram of DNA was a really bright thing to do.
Hope anyone/thing that finds that isn't looking for a new air atmosphere planet with no 'owners', or at least easily removed ones.

i was driving through new mexico one night and accidentally stumbled upon the VLA (very large array...the radio dishes from the movie contact.)  it was up in the mountains and the stars were so bright, that i could see the dishes stretching out for miles.  there was no moon.  there was a small meteor shower.

it was one of those moments.

god.  it was beautiful.
this thread is doomed.
