Here is a visual aid:

Now, this thing is supposedly going to communicate to the aliens what the whole earth thing is about.

In a few moments, I am going to direct you to a site. Your task, should you choose to accept it, is to complete the following:

1) Before examining that site, look at the image posted above. You should notice some symbols etched into the Golden Record. Decode their meaning.

2) Now go to the site , skip the crappy intro, and see the hidden clues revealed. d'OH! It was so simple, right?! I mean, the answer was practically hitting you over the head wasn't it?!

3) Enter the site, and you'll notice three rings acting as links; sounds, photos and greetings.

The 'sounds' link will provide the pleasantly suprised alien with dogs barking and the sound of tractors.

The 'pictures' link shows some chick licking something, some wacked-out looking motherf#$% eating what appears to be god-knows-what, and some emo-tard pouring water on his face.

The 'greetings' link gives the alien the word "hello" spoken in about 20 languages that they aint even gonna understand in the first place.

HBkojd.

uyio{uo.

YUioyh.

Did you understand those? Just imagine the smiles those heart-warming greetings are going to bring to the alien's faces.

Who is responsible for this PR fiasco in the making?!!

Hell.... barely any of US know how to work a record player anymore. Ya really think the aliens do?

But lets just for a second pretend that the aliens manage to decode the gibberish on the Golden Record and figure out how to make it work. I can't even imagine the look on their faces while watching this low-budget ghetto archive of tard.

No wonder watermelon like Independence day happens. Leave it to the NASA folks to screw it up....

I think this could have very dangerous repurcussions for us. Ugh... just great.

"The Voyager Golden Record is a gramophone record, attached to the two Voyager spacecraft launched in 1977, containing sounds and images selected to portray the diversity of life and culture on Earth. It is intended for any intelligent extraterrestrial life form that may find it. The Voyagers will take about 40,000 years to come close to another star, hence if the other beings do not come our way to meet them, it will take at least that long before the Golden Record is found.

As the probe it is attached to is relatively small and hard to see, it is difficult to assess the likelihood of discovery of the probe in the long term— it depends upon where it ends up. If it is found, and not destroyed, it is certain that it will take a very long time in human terms, and thus the record is a symbolic statement rather than a serious attempt to enter a dialogue with aliens."

The odds of any space fareing civilization or intelignece actually finding this probe in space is slim to none.  The odds of any 2 civilizations actually finding eachother in the galexy are slim at best to begin with givin the vastness of space an time.

Willdcard...rpm's problems stems from the fact that his momma didn't breast feed him as an infant.

A little understanding is needed here.

ok pardon my ignorance but is Voyager nuclear powered?
Cause if it isn't, it will probably  stop emiting any kind of energy, thus becoming virtually undetectable by anyone, except for future earthlings who, knowing its trajectory, will scramble after through hyperspace to retrieve it and sell it on ebay. :p

What, you mean there was a significant contribution on our part, maybe even more so than from Oklahomo. Weren't we the third nation to put a beaver into orbit. I vaguely remember something about canuck scientists helping out and doing calculations to help bring the Apollo 13 guys back home.

Expect the another hissy fit, from the okkie ghetto child.

Hmmm the same CaNUCKs that figured in the metric system instead of US Standard Weights and Measures on the first Mars probe?
