Computer to TV question
« on: January 01, 2005, 08:03:50 PM »
I know its possible to connect and view the game on a TV.
Question is.
Is there a particular special card and /or other hardware for this or will any Video card with a TV out port will do?

My Bother in law is getting a new High Def TV and wants to be able to run flight simulators on it.

He's more of the jet flying type. though hopefully I'll be able to get him interested in the game eventually

Easiest way, get a high def set that accepts DVI inputs.  Your video card will have to support that feature as well.

Almost all video cards made the past two years have Svideo output, or in the case of the AllinWonders, a breakout box with composite video.

As long as you have an output, there are adaptors for any other concievable input.  The best possible is of course using a DVI output if your HDTV is close enough and has a DVI input.  Probably not though so you'll be using an Svideo cable.  If your HDTV has component inputs (R,G,B) then you can get a Svideo to composite adapter for around $15.

You can extend cable up to near 100ft with only minor signal loss beyond that, there are hardware solutions.
