Very basic, don't lough pls
« on: January 04, 2005, 10:02:42 AM »
What should I do when I would like to extend to the other country's player?

I had a great fight with 110 vs my 99 VAl, and sent to the counterpart with a lot of respect, but the message sent on Ch 1 (ALL) didn't show up.  I checked it in the film, but still didn't.

Please allow me to extend my respect here to Grillman for the great fight tonight!

Is there any way to pay respect to the oppornent other than using clipboard-Roster-Tune To?

Should I read the past logs, but I need a quick help.

Thanks in advance!

Negativ.

White message is personal message sent to you by the player whose name is in front of it. Only you can see it.
  • Tune one radio channle to 200 and you can type on that radio channle, all channles with number of 200 or higher can be read by everyone in the game if he is tuned to it. Then you can write something nice there.
  • You can type .s playername to salute a player on the opposite country. Everyone sees the salute, most players think you should salute only players that shot you down, saluting after you shot someone down (in a good fight or not) is not considerd polite by moste, some get offended by it.

When somone salutes you you are supposed to salute back if you think the fight was good.

  • You can send a message to one player, which only that player can see, by typing that players name in one of the radio channel boxes and then using that channel ( /, /, /, / or \ on us keyboard) .

But most players dont want private messages from the enemy, so use one of the other two possibilities preferrable.

[/list]

see you

Thanks a lot Schutt for your detailed explanation.  I will do it from now on.

Personally I'd like to Salute for not only to the defeated but also for the pilot with respectful manner to the others.  And you know with Val there is a rare case to send the message as a sort of victory sign.  the battle tonight lasted more than 5 min.  That means I am a very poor shooter, though.  However, I always pay respect to any players who play the game for something fun.  Regardless of the country sides.

Having read your message, I will keep sending my private to the one particular player, hoping he feels not be insulted by my genuine respect

:)

Just to clarify, you can send the Salute without being tuned to channel 200. Just type .s name in the regular country channel and everyone will see it.

Another way to tune to a specific player is to bring up the roster, right click on the specific player, and click on Tune To. It will put their name in the radio tune to box of your usually country channel. Interestingly, you will still get your countyr channel messages even though you are tuned to them.

I don't mind getting personal messages from the enemy as long as they are polite discussions of tactics or congratulations type messages.

I'm not sure I agree with this.  In the CT, at least, we generally salute people we shoot down, as well as those who shoot us down (guess which I get to do the most?).  If someone gets offended by that, in my humble view, it's only because he is paranoid that people are making fun of him.

I disagree also.  If I have a particularly enjoyable fight, I often fire off a before the kill is even awarded to me.  I do not nessacerly mention the players name, because it should be obvious to them who is being addressed.

On the other hand, if you cherry pick some guy who was already 2vs1, or a plethora of other situations where the kill was not a result of a "good fight" you may not get a positive response from them.

is why if I I only do it after being shot down, if I thought the one that shot me down flew a good fight..............

I often get 's where it was 3 / 4 / 5 on 1 and they me I usually will never say anything about these. Unless, it was a good fight and the victor that killed me salutes me I will offer a gk or greatshot back to them but not a

then you have the individuals that in the MA people they vulch and thank them for upping.........what a crock of egotistical BS, these types have no clue of respect, sportsmanship, honor and shows others of an older era what  the world is coming to

but to each his own I guess.......

Oldman , you are by far the most polite and honorable in the CT,  your salutes I regard with respect  - they come win or lose.

But I am sometimes bemused by some folks version of saluting  and I will quote an example from the CT ( but not the person)

I was flying around chatting on the radio and was hit  completely by surprise  and shot down  - didn't move a muscle - the guy salutes me ( I think gee that's an odd salute - I didn't put up a whimper)

10 minutes later - the same guy comes in 2-2 , from alt ,  I manage to wound his friend and kill him  in a fight that would have gone for about 5 minutes - it was actually a really fun fight . This time, complete radio silence at the end of the fight.

Seems saluting is pretty much for when you win the fight these days - not for a good fight

Personally , I'll salute if I lose a good fight , but never when I win one , seems a more logical way round.

EDIT - Oldman, 10 minutes later you and I had a great fight  from 10k to the deck and the salutes exchanged were very genuine.

I like Schutt's protocol as well, and will be more carefull when I use the salute in the future.  You can offer the same respect with a GF to note a good fight when you win, but like an officer in the military, it would be akward to salute a private before he salutes the officer.  Give the one you shot down the opportunity to salute first.

Well, all I can say is that if I salute someone, it is done out of respect for the job they did....win or a lose, 5 vs. 1 or 1 v. 1.

Even if I cherry pick a guy (yeah, I admit it) who is all over a squaddies 6 and the pilot was doing a great job...I fire off a to let him know that I apreciate his ability and that we were lucky to get out of it "alive".

I will also salute a nme pilot (win or lose) with whom I have run into previously and have talked tactics with.   Usually about what I did wrong, and why they blasted me into air freshener.

If I dont salute someone, its not cause I'm am arrogant, its usually because there are bullets winging past me.

Most of us in here don't talk smack in here unless it is absolutley clear to the person on the other end it is all in jest.  Sometimes I wonder if it is worth having channel 200 up.  A lot can get lost in the translation, and that leads to bad blood.

Gentlemen -  just for the record, ALL salutes from me are a sincere expression of awe and respect.   I know talent when I see it, and I try to let the OTHER guys know their efforts are appreciated.

The thing I miss most from WB was the display of both parties in a kill message. :)

Ahh, the days when you could watch two parties talk smack on open channel and then read the outcome 'player x wiped the table with players y and z.'

Especially if you happened to be that player x yourself.

If it is a good fight then I'll give a to the other player, regardless if I won or not.  I do not acknowledge that are a result of a gang bang or cherry pick and those will usually only result in a from me.

I shot someone down once, and sent them a salute....

They said "shut up dweeb you got lucky"

I said "no i'm just better but good fight"

He said "you shooting me down when i'm fighting someone isn't a fair fight"

I said"you were coming straight at me and tried to HO me it was fair"

He said "no you tried to shoot me from behind"

I said "isn't that the point?"

He said"Yea but it wasn't fair"

I said "well sometimes life ain't fair"

He said "go to he||"

I said "Michigan?"

He said "Shutup retard"

I said "no thanks"

......and the conversation ended there because he didn't write back. Salutes can be good and bad.

TRUE STORY! :aok
