I've got a brilliant idea ! Eureka !
We strip the best American football team off all their protective gear and get them play in a chess tounament against the best in the world "soccer"  and rugby teams. That's the only way to find out who's the best.
 :D

But speaking seriously, were there any players that played both "European" and American football at the professional level ? I know that Lev Yashin was excellent both in ice hockey and football (see my article on him in Wikipedia). But were there the others of this level who excelled in
several team sports ?

Bo Jackson and Dion Sanders both played professional football and baseball.

While not in team sports, Babe Didrikson Zaharias won 2 Gold medals in track and field in 1932, turned to golf and won 82 tournaments in her career.

Garo Yepremian was an Armenian Football (Soccer) player who came to the USA at 22 and became an outstanding place kicker for several NFL teams, most notably for the Miami Dolphins.  His passing rating was less than admirable however.

The short list :

Bo Jackson, (American) football and baseball (USA)

Lev Yashin, ice hockey and football (soccer) (USSR)

Dion Sanders, (American) football and baseball (USA)

Garo Yepremian, football (soccer) and (American) football
(Armenia, USA)

Babe Didrikson Zaharias, track&field and golf (USA)

Any additions anyone ?

The rest of the world plays football with their feet.

The Americans dress up in pads etc and play it with their hands and give real football a new name! Seems about par for the course to me lol

Look they got a baseball world series too. As far as I know only two or three countries play baseball proffessionaly. Hardly a WORLD series guys.

Still the rest of the worlld doesn't mind too much. We have real football, cricket and rugby ( your version without the namby pamby pads ) So you can keep your rounders (sorry baseball) a womens game here, and two hour long pad posing epics and we'll keep our real sports men thanks.

(CAN we have your cheap petrol though lol):aok :rofl

The cost of your petrol is the same as the cost of our petrol.  It's your taxes that are too expensive.
