puffy ack again.   it has kilt me more than anything else this camp, 6 times, and just ended a very fun fight, got 3, heading home, .   what a way to end it, the nameless lazer guided puffy ack from H-E-doublehockeysticks.
why is it here?  other than to tick me off of course?

Yup, puffy ack kills me far more than any enemy plane does. Hits me right between the eyes going 400 mph while rudder slipping and nose-dipping at 20k. It's about a 9.5 on the lame-o-meter.

I think if we could see hit % of puffy ack, it would be extremely low, but with dozens of shells going off in the air around you, eventually you will be hit.....

That said, as much as we need puffy ack in the game, it's AI engine should be tuned such that it preffers to shoot at multi-engine bombers.

I think the "simple" solution would be to change it so that it does not fire at aircraft unless they fly straight and level for more than 10 seconds at a time.

On a realism scale, how often would a real WWII gunner crew fire at a small, high-speed aircraft at great distance that was constantly maneuvering and changing altitude?

midnight, this last time i was less than 5k alt, but was 1/4 to 1/2 sector from closest nme base.  there were 3 burst around me, the 3rd hit and kilt me.  that is the 2nd time in as many days that i was kilt within the first 3 ack burst around me.  well, 3 that i heard, 3 booms around me, then my plane went boom.

Getting splattered by AI carrier ack I can handle.  Still annoying, but I can handle it.  But the puffy ack over every single stinking base is just terrible.  I don't pay my subscription fee to get shot down by some AI gun.  I can do that in IL2 for free.  I pay to get shot down by lgay7s and run90s and those stupid green UFOs.

Only been shot down once by AI ack as far as I can recall.    How would I check on AI ack kills on me?

Been shot alot by CV guns but thats to be expected.

Man I would love to know what these flak magnets are doing that gts them killed so much by puffy ack.

I just ignore the stuff entirely, or admire the view as I fly through it.

I had a streak going where I did get killed by it twice in a 2 day period about 3-4 months ago but other then that I rarely get scratched by it let alone damaged or killed.

Now the low to the ground stuff with the tracers is another story. But even that I manage to avoid pretty well.

Leave the puffy ack alone.
Its fine and adds to the realistic feel of the game.
And if you find you tend to get killed alot by it I would suggest you stay away from it then.

Thats good but top this if you can.  Have you been hit twice within 5 bursts?  I was flying over an enemy base at about 5K.  Second or third burst gave me oil damage.  While initializing whining mode, the 5th burst cliped my wings.

I also believe 99% of the time puffy ack is just fun to look at. But it's those senseless times that it hits you that makes it so bad. My example is I'm fighting someone and over water 1/2 way between our bases. I end up getting the kill and see he's reupping so I start heading towards him. Bases comes into veiw, I see his dot so I start to circle in my area while he gains some alt and speed(yes I was actually looking for a fair fight, shocking huh?;) ) Then suddenly...a burst of flak! I was still way out there, base far off on the horizon. Checked for CV, nothing. Then on second burst, engine dead and totally ruining another fun fight! It's just so frustrating getting killed when you are no threat to the base the acks protecting. Not sure what can be done about it though, and like I said 99% of the time for me, it's not a problem. But the times it is...Grrrr lol
