"Remote controled" home
« on: January 13, 2005, 05:22:06 AM »
I am about to finish a project that I have dreamed of for a long time.

I started buying Bang & Olufsen AV products about 10 years ago and I have fallen in love with the brand and I now finally swapped out all my AV products with B&O only. TV, Stereosystem etc.

With this

I now control all of my AV equipment + computer + _all_ lighting in the house, all the blinds and i can open the front door. All music from my stereo system and TV/DVD can be brought to _any_ room in the house (except utility room).

Tv and DVD can also be sent to the tv in the bedroom from the main system.

All with one simple remote and the Beolink system :)

One of my dreams have come true and please dont ask how much it costs. All I can say is that i had to raise the insurance premium. I thought I would have had to wait for atleast another 5 years to complete my setup, but thanks to the understanding woman I love it is done now.

Just don't lose the remote. ;)
My mind is a raging torrent, flooded with rivulets of thought cascading into a waterfall of creative alternatives.
Stay thirsty my friends.

I have 3 of them. One in the kitchen, one in the living room and one in the bedroom. :)

There are better performing high end audio and video systems than B&O at lower prices. With B&O you are basically paying a premium for their form factor and design, it's essentialy a very high end version of Bose.

Yes you pay more, but people tend to belive that you pay only for design. This is not true and most hifi freaks that i have had into my home can not belive that what they are listening to is B&O. They are blown away by the sound and picture quality. Im talking real hifi nuts here that belive that everything has to be on spikes and look ugly to sound good. In my youth..before B&O got to me I was a hifi freak too but i converted and never looked back. The build quality is also outstanding. My parents have a 20 year old B&O tv that works as good now as ever, and it has only been to the shop 2 times to get the dust removed from the innards.

I might be in your part of the world this summer, maybe I go visit and give this system an auditon. Obviously the most important thing is that you are happy with your setup and that you accomplished a long term goal. :)

Note to all "Sweedish" burglars: You only need a remote to get into Nielsen's house... and there's a LOT of BO stuff for you in there!

Best time to get in the howse is when the owner is working on repairing his dad's boat :D

Best speakers my ears have ever heard?   B&W Nautilus 802's with a Lexicon MC12 driving them.   Runner-up, Quad ESL-969's driven by a Bryston Amp.   I'm a home theater guru, I will say this Bang&Olufsen has just as good as marketing as Bose, and Bose sucks.

This all sounds really cool, but you haven't truly "arrived" until you have a carpeted garage. ;)
