New water affect?

When I play Ah2 I never see this new water affect. Is there a certain thing you have to turn on before seeing it?

it's a check box in your video setup, and it's mostly noticable when very close to the water - like when you're in a PT boat.

I have this water effect in other sims and non-sim games. Really beautiful effect with all kind of light reflections (better in Morrowind, even with water transparency levels). For some misterious reason, I dont have this check box in AH, while my card and driver are proven to be more than capable of that.

As far as killing the Frame rates it seems that the water effect kills FR's on Nvidia cards the most my brother just went to an ATI card from a Nvidia and the ATI works smooth as silk. I am running a Radeon 9600 pro and hav no FR drop at all.

Water effect caused very little FPS drop on my rig. I've a meager vid-card (9800-pro-128) but I'm doin good on CPU (FX53). The problem is I like the effect from Pacific Fighters more, I think it has as much to do with the AH water being too blue.

The water effect is shader driven.  The performance effect it will have is strictly dependent on the video card as the video card handles all the work for this effect.
If the box is not available to you, it simply means your video card does not have support for the later shader code versions.

I found these while doing research for a project. Shows how close the affect comes to real life.

IMO, the only thing wrong with AH water is the fact that objects do not effect it. IE: a plane ditching in water needs to produce splash, wake etc.

also, it is a little too dark.

i think its great and cant remember the old days of 'shag pile carpet' water. dread going back to that.
